St. Francis Xavier College actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on September 11, 2025, held at the P&M Building from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The drill was spearheaded by the Safety and Health Office in partnership with the SFXC College Red Cross Youth, as part of the nationwide campaign to strengthen disaster preparedness.
The activity engaged the entire SFXC community in practicing proper earthquake response procedures, including the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ technique, safe evacuation protocols, and coordinated response efforts. Wearing their Type B uniforms, participants simulated real-time scenarios to enhance vigilance, discipline, and resilience in the face of earthquake hazards.
Conducted quarterly by the government, the NSED aims to address the Philippinesโ high vulnerability to earthquakes, being located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. The exercise serves not only as a reminder of the risks posed by seismic events but also as an opportunity to evaluate the institutionโs contingency plans, evacuation routes, and communication systems.
The drill also highlighted the importance of collective action and collaboration, as the Safety and Health Office and the College Red Cross Youth worked hand in hand to ensure the smooth ex*****on of the activity. By engaging in this nationwide initiative, SFXC reaffirmed its commitment to disaster readiness and emphasized that preparedness is a shared responsibility of students, employees, and the larger community.
