Inspection of Proposed Calibration Site in Region 1

On May 28, 2026, an inspection of the proposed Calibration Site for Region 1 was conducted at Lingayen, Pangasinan. The inspection was led by Chief of the Surveys and Mapping Division, Engr. Arnulfo G. Aquino, together with Assistant Chief of the Surveys and Mapping Division, Engr. Reynaldo Tambalo. Also present during the inspection were Pangasinan Provincial Assessor Atty. Geronimo Abad, Engr. Alvin Bigay, and the officers and members of GEP Regional Division 1.

The proposed calibration site is envisioned to serve as a facility for the calibration and verification of surveying instruments, ensuring their accuracy, reliability, and compliance with established professional standards. This inspection represents a significant step toward the approval and eventual establishment of the facility, marking one of the legacy projects of the administration of President Nixon Zacary Fernando.

The project will be fully funded by the Provincial Government of Pangasinan under the leadership and support of Governor Ramon V. Guico III and will be integrated with the province’s Esplanade Project along the Lingayen Baywalk. This initiative demonstrates Governor Guico’s commitment to infrastructure development, innovation, and the advancement of the geodetic engineering profession in the province.

The Geodetic Engineers of the Philippines (GEP) Regional Division 1 extends its sincere gratitude to Governor Ramon V. Guico III, as well as to its advisers, officers, and members, for their unwavering support, cooperation, and dedication in making this initiative possible.

Once established, the calibration site is expected to play a vital role in enhancing the quality of surveying practices, strengthening technical competence among geodetic engineers, and contributing to the continued growth and development of the geodetic engineering profession in Region 1.

Special thanks to Governor Ramon V. Guico III and the Provincial Government of Pangasinan for their full support and 100% funding commitment to this landmark project.
