BACNOTAN, LA UNION โ More than 400 schoolchildren in La Union benefited from the ๐๐ข ๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ through a healthy plant-based sandwich feeding initiative conducted on July 24, 2026. The activity brought together government agencies, civic organizations, and volunteers in a shared commitment to improving child nutrition and promoting healthier food choices.
Food preparation began at SIFCare in San Juan, La Union, where volunteers worked hand in hand to prepare nutritious plant-based sandwiches for the beneficiaries. The feeding program was then conducted at Carcarmay Integrated School in Bacnotan, La Union, one of the program's beneficiary schools, serving ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฑ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐. Another ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฝ๐๐ฝ๐ถ๐น๐ received nutritious meals at Cabaroan Elementary School in San Juan, La Union. In total, ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ were reached through the initiative.

A total of ๐ด๐ฏ ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ dedicated approximately five hours to food preparation, distribution, and program activities, demonstrating the power of volunteerism and partnership in serving local communities.
Adding joy and excitement to the event, the participating Lions Clubs sponsored cash prizes and special gifts for the winners of the Nutrition Month Celebration Costume Competition held during the program. The awarding ceremony brought smiles to the young participants and further encouraged their active participation in the celebration, making the event both educational and memorable.
Beyond providing nutritious meals, the GO PALAKAS Program highlights the importance of healthy eating, community involvement, and collective action in supporting the well-being of children. Through partnerships among civic organizations, uniformed services, and volunteers, the initiative continues to create meaningful and lasting impacts on communities.
