The Laoag Integrated Fisherfolk Association will organize a “KUNDIMAN” singing contest this coming April 27, 2025, in celebration of the Fisherfolk Day-Sitio Laoag Fiesta 2025. Kundiman from the words “kung hindi man” is the traditional Filipino love music with lyrics that often depict unfortunate affairs or sorrow brought by love. The purpose of the competition is to bring consciousness to the current generation about the traditional Filipino genre that has been around for centuries, presenting it as an art rather than just a symbol of culture and showcasing the singing talent and skills of our fisherfolk community across from the aged and young generation. The contest will also promote Kundiman as a consolidation of cultural and artistic skills that are deeply rooted in the Filipino language and traditions.

[GENERAL GUIDELINES, RULES and MECHANICS]
(Date of Competition: April 27, 2025 l 6:00 PM l Sitio Laoag Plaza)

1.) The contest is open to all bona fide resident fisherfolk of San Felipe, Zambales.

1.1 Ages 15-24 years old
1.2 Ages 25 and older
2.) All participants will sing their song choice (Kundiman Song).
3.) The participants can sing with a musical accompaniment or with minus one. Participants can also perform solo or as a duet.
4.) The entire performance should last for at least three (3) to five (5) minutes including an introduction if any.
5.) The participants are required to wear fisherfolk or Filipino-inspired attire during their live performance.
6.) The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
7.) The deadline for submission of entries is on April 25, 2025 l 5:00 PM

[CRITERIA FOR JUDGING]

VOICE QUALITY (50 %)

1.1 Vocal Technique - Tone Quality, Breath Support Intonation, Diction and Articulation.
1.2 Rhythm and Tempo - Voice with music.

INTERPRETATION (30 %)

2.1 Musicality and Expressiveness
2.2 How well the performer can express the Meaning and mood of the song.

SHOWMANSHIP (20%)

3.1 Show Design - Music selection, Performance area Outfit and style.
3.2 Entertainment Value- The audience’s and judges’ Reaction to the overall performance.

“Together, let’s RUN WITH PURPOSE for our planet.”

Celebrating Earth Day and Sitio Laoag Fiesta 2025 with a meaningful run that encourages community response action from the global call for free-plastic waste coastal communities for a healthful and sustainable coastal and marine environment.

This celebration will also highlight the significant partnerships and collaborations between communities, schools, advocates, non-government organizations (NGOs), local government units (LGUs), and the national government for the common program goal of coastal and marine ecosystem services and benefits optimized and enhanced to contribute to the well-being of every Filipinos. Moreover, the activity celebration supports the National Plan of Action for the Prevention, Reduction and Management of Marine Litter (NPOA-ML) with the overarching goal of a "zero waste to Philippine water by 2040".

Lace up our “PAMALAKASAN” shoes, and let’s celebrate together and join a community of fisherfolks taking steps toward a clean and healthy coastline of Sitio Laoag. MabuhEyyy! 🌊🥂🎉

Hindi kailanman naging krimen ang pakikipaglaban natin para sa karapatang pantao. Ang mga kalayaa’t karapatan na tinatamasa natin ngayon ay produkto ng ilang siglo ng pakikibaka’t pagpapagal ng mga taong hindi nanahimik laban sa kawalang katarungan sa ating lipunan.

Ngayong sinisikil ang mga kalayaa’t karapatang ito, kinakailangang igiit nating mga mamamayan ang kapangyarihan na mayroon tayo. Ang mga batas ay itinatakda upang maging pananggalang ng tao sa pagmamalabis at pang-aabuso. Hindi ito ipinapasa para ilagay sa panganib ang buhay ng sinuman, o di kaya’y gamitin ng mga nasa kapangyarihan upang isulong ang kanilang mga personal na interes.

Hindi tayo pipikit. Hindi tayo mananahimik. Hindi maduduwag kapag tuluyan nilang yurakan at agawin ang mga laban na simula’t sapul nating pinaninindigan!
