The project staff actively participated in the 2026 Year-End Assessment and Planning together with other projects of the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse of different funders. The activity provided an opportunity to reflect on the yearโ€™s accomplishments, identify challenges and lessons learned, and assess the progress of the projectโ€™s implementation.
Through meaningful discussions and collaborative planning, the team identified key priorities and strategies to strengthen project implementation in the coming year and ensure that interventions remain responsive to the needs of children, families, schools, parishes, and communities.
Together, we continue to learn, improve, and work towards a stronger and more sustainable child protection system.

The training focused on practical knowledge and skills in preventing, identifying, responding to, and reporting child protection concerns. Teachers explored how to recognize possible signs of abuse, respond appropriately to disclosures, and promote personal safety education among learners.
More importantly, the training highlighted the vital role of teachers in creating safe, supportive, and child-friendly classroomsโ€”spaces where children feel safe to speak, seek help, and be heard.

The activity was further enriched through the participation of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), which discussed the legal framework on child protection and provided guidance on the appropriate response to child protection concerns.

Breaking: UINITED NATIONS Recognise Family for Every Childโ€™s Leadership in Addressing Sexual Violence Against Boys in time for Blue Umbrella day 2026

A new statement from the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children, Dr Najat Maalla Mโ€™jid, shines a spotlight on the urgent and often overlooked issue of sexual violence against boys.

In her remarks, she highlights the barriers boys face in reporting abuse and accessing support, and recognises the important work of Family for Every Child in bringing this issue to global attention.

The statement marks a significant moment in the global recognition of sexual violence against boys: for the first time, a senior UN mandate holder has publicly recognised it as a global issue and strengthened the global call to ensure boys are recognised as victims, supported in their recovery, and included in policies and services.

This achievement reflects years of sustained advocacy by Family for Every Child and our global network of partners through the Blue Umbrella Day Campaign.
