Please be informed that the National Telecommunications Commission – Negros Island Region (NTC-NIR) will observe the following schedule for August 17–21, 2026:

We extend our warmest greetings and appreciation to the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) for its continued efforts in advancing the Philippines’ space science, technology, and exploration capabilities.

Radio waves can behave in many different ways as they travel from a transmitter to a receiver. Reflection occurs when waves bounce off surfaces, while diffraction allows them to bend around obstacles. Scattering sends energy in many directions, and absorption reduces signal strength as waves pass through materials. Refraction bends waves through different atmospheric layers, while ionospheric refraction can return HF signals toward Earth for long-distance communication. Multipath propagation happens when reflected, diffracted, or scattered signals travel along different paths and arrive at the receiver together. This can cause fading, where signal strength changes with time or location. Ducting can carry signals beyond the normal horizon. Other important effects include polarization rotation, Doppler shift, free-space path loss, and atmospheric attenuation caused by rain, fog, clouds, oxygen, and water v***r.
