Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish-San Andres held its annual Santa Cruzan last May 4, 2024.
Santa Cruzan is a religious historical reenactment of the search and discovery of the Holy Cross by Queen Helena and her son, emperor Constantine.
The festival's symbolism is deeply rooted in Christian faith. It represents the finding of the true cross and the conversion of pagan Romans to Christianity. During the procession, young women dress up as various historical and biblical figures.
The procession also included a number of other queens, each carrying a religious symbols. The whole event is a colorful mix of historical reenactment and community celebration, incorporating Filipino customs, the Christian faith, and local traditions.
