On June 10, 2026, at exactly 4:00 PM, the CDIFS Grounds became a place of patriotism and reflection as the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) successfully conducted the Flag Retreat and Worn Out Flag Ceremony. The activity served as a reminder of the importance of honoring our national symbol and showing respect for the values it represents.

As the sun slowly set, students, teachers, and guests gathered to witness the solemn lowering of the Philippine flag, followed by the proper retirement of worn out flags. Through this meaningful ceremony, participants were reminded that the flag is more than a piece of cloth it is a symbol of our nation's history, sacrifices, freedom, and unity as Filipinos.

The SSLG and BSP extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who took part in this significant event. May this ceremony inspire us to continue demonstrating love for our country, respect for our national symbols, and pride in being Filipino. Together, let us keep the spirit of patriotism alive in our hearts and actions every day.

With deep respect and reverence, we will conduct the Flag Worn-out and Retreat Ceremony, a solemn activity that signifies our unwavering patriotism and gratitude to the Philippine Flagโ€”the enduring symbol of our nation's freedom, unity, sovereignty, and identity. This event will be held this June 10, 2026, 4pm at the CDIFS Ground.

As the sun sets and the colors of our beloved flag are respectfully retired, we are reminded that every thread and every fold of our national banner carries the sacrifices, struggles, and triumphs of generations of Filipinos. Through this meaningful ceremony, we pay tribute not only to the flag itself but also to the values it represents: love of country, respect, discipline, integrity, and service to the Filipino people.

The proper disposal of worn-out Philippine flags is mandated under Republic Act No. 8491, otherwise known as the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, particularly under its provisions governing the respectful treatment and retirement of unserviceable national flags. The conduct of the retreat ceremony likewise upholds the principles set forth by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) on flag protocol and observance.

This activity serves as a reminder to all learners, educators, government employees, and community members that patriotism is not merely expressed through words but demonstrated through our actions and respect for our national symbols.

As we retire flags that have faithfully served their purpose, may we continue to uphold the ideals they stand for and inspire future generations to cherish and protect the freedom and nationhood that they symbolize.
