TAG Speaker dives deep on mindfulness
Participants share life map on 3rd Day

On the third day of the Three Acts of Goodness sponsored seminar series, Professor Cecilia B. Manikan dove deeper on mindfulness as she allowed the participants to revisit points in their lives during their life mapping activity on December 14 at SUNN College Hotel.

During the morning session, Manikan devoted a time for one master teacher and an administrative officer to dwell in their past experiences. She asserted that doing the life map would help individuals to become aware of their drives in their life.

Manikan stressed the nature of suffering and liberation which are important aspects of understanding life better.

“We can borrow knowledge in order to become better Catholics and better Christians,” she reiterated on her topic Understanding the Cause of Human Suffering.

Meanwhile, Manikan accompanied by the Buddhist shifus Venerable Zhi Yi and Venerable Zhi Rhong introduced two meditation periods on how to manage anxiety and depression.

“It is a thorough and undistorted observation requiring settling back from the processes of the body and mind,” ended by Manikan.

The four-day capability building will conclude on December 15 as the participants will return to their respective stations.

-Day 2 of 4-
We don’t live in a vacuum, says TAG speaker Professor Cecilia B. Manikan underscored the essence of the TAG-sponsored seminar to 100 participants which is the transcendence of self-awareness to awareness of others during the 2nd day of the Capability Building Program on Whole Brain Self-Mastery and Mindfulness Training for Educators at SUNN College Hotel, Sagay City on December 13.
“We can never manage what we are not aware of,” Manikan stressed in her talk. On the second day, topics on Emotional Competence, Interpretation of Dreams, and Intuition were leveraged from 9 in the morning until the afternoon. Since the training aims to equip educators with self-awareness, inner reflection, inner sensitivity, and inner refinement to triumph in self-management, activities designed to promote critical thinking and self-reflection were conducted.
Moreover, processing and correcting the participants’ perceptions as evident in their output and responses was thoroughly executed as Manikan has emphasized that the training is the laboratory for learning. Master teachers, administrative staff, and select school heads are expected to accomplish the daily journal as a collection of opuses of their takeaways. The participants will return tomorrow for another set of topics. - Jeano Mirasol

Batch 3, which comprised of select master teachers, schools and division staff, joined the Whole Brain Self-Mastery and Mindfulness Training for Educators on its first of the 4-Day Training at State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) College Hotel, Sagay City on December 12.

Josette Balandra, the Three Acts of Goodness (TAG) Focal Person, accentuated that progressive training of the entire Faculty and Staff of the SDO-Sagay is free which was supported by the Fo Guang Shang Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Sagay City.

The training has catered three batches already since late November which will later expand to junior and senior high school teachers.
Moreover, Balandra emphasized the dire need for these type of seminars to the division’s workforce.

Furthermore, fellow Negrosanon and sought-after speaker Professor Cecilia Manikan backed up Balandra in her statement.

“This course was designed as an intervention to restore balance in this volatile events,” Manikan said.
The training will continue until December 15 to tackle discussion on designing mindful curriculum.
