The Youth Leadership Summit on Gender and Climate Action, themed βTurning Commitment into Unified Action,β was successfully held on December 17, 2025, at the 3rd Floor, Mt. Siburan Hall, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro.
The summit gathered 104 student leaders from the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) of different schools across Sablayan, including Ligaya NHS, Burgos NHS, Yapang NHS, San Vicente NHS, San Francisco NHS, Victoria NHSβIlvita Annex, Malisbong NHS, SaNaCoHSβGEA Extension, and the IP Dormitory of the Indigenous People Affairs Office (IPAO).
The summit provided a dynamic platform for young leaders to present their initiatives, exchange insights, share lessons learned, and develop strategies to overcome barriers to meaningful youth engagement. It also created an important space for dialogue among youth, policymakers, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and local authorities to help sustain youth-led climate action.
A key outcome of the summit was the commitment of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to strengthen its partnership with AYIP as a youth organization partner in advancing youth-led climate action programs, disaster preparedness, and community resilience initiatives.
The summit officially marked the closing of the YLA Project and the launch of the YLA Impact Report, reinforcing the role of young people as key drivers of gender-responsive climate action toward an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.
This collaborative activity was implemented by YLA and AYIP and funded by The Rockefeller Foundation and Plan International Asia Pacific.
