𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐂𝐋𝐂 𝐅𝐂𝐔 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐍𝐆𝐋𝐀, 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬

The Capiz Leo Club – Filamer Christian University (CLC FCU) participated in the 6th Batch of the Capiz Next Generation Leaders Alliance (CNGLA) held at the Amphitheater of the University of Perpetual Help System – Pueblo de Panay Campus in Lawaan, Roxas City, Capiz, Nov. 14.

The event was organized by the Borres Youth Leadership Institute Inc. (BYLI) gathered 81 youth organizations across the province for the event, fostering collaboration, leadership, and a commitment to nation-building.

CLC FCU took a prominent role in the environment committee, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and community engagement.

"Participating in CNGLA was an inspiring and enriching experience," said AJ Perez, Finance and Management Resources Director.

"The orientation led by Mr. Sam David Q. Andrada, together with outgoing officers and volunteers, provided valuable insights into leadership, collaboration, and community service," she added.

Atty. Stephen T. Alquiza highlighted that young leaders possess the energy, creativity, and passion to drive meaningful social transformation.

He further explained that effective leadership involves service, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference, summarized by the formula: Inspiration + Realization = Action.

CLC FCU’s delegation included Anastasha Lim, Secretary, and AJ Perez, who actively participated in the said event.

The club’s involvement in CNGLA reflects its dedication to developing responsible leaders who contribute positively to society and the environment.

𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐀𝐋 | 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌 𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻. 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

The floodwaters of Typhoon Tino may have receded, but what remains is not just mud, it is the stench of betrayal. Sixty-six lives lost. Twenty-two missing. Entire communities erased by a system that has mastered the art of stealing not just funds but futures. Sixty-five days have passed since the first public hearing on the billions poured into “flood control projects,” and yet not one corrupt hand has been held to account.

We have seen this before. Just a week earlier, another typhoon battered the same provinces that were deemed “safe”, with drainage systems that should have worked and riverbanks that should have been reinforced. Instead, they collapsed like the hollow assurances of those who stole from the very coffers meant to save us. Time and time again, we are kept as fools by the ones we elect to power.

How many times must we rebuild what corruption has destroyed? How many lives must be lost before we realize that this nation’s greatest disaster doesn’t come from the earth, it stems from the greed that floods every institution and drowns every dream?

To every hand that signed ghost projects, to every mouthpiece that justified the theft, to every official who turned a blind eye: you did not just steal public funds. You stole lives, futures, and hope. Behind every casualty is a name and a dream, the vendor who lost his store, the father who drowned trying to save his children, the son who watched his parents be washed away.

This is not a natural calamity. This is the moral collapse of a nation that glorifies thieves and punishes the poor for enduring. The billions meant to save us built no barriers, only mansions, offshore accounts, and walls of silence. And still, we are told to be resilient. To rebuild. To smile amid ruins. But resilience without justice is submission. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴; 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱.

To those who profited from suffering: the day will come when the floodwaters will not be of rain, but of reckoning. Justice will rise, and it will not stop until every ghost project is exposed, every peso traced, and every corrupt official jailed.

This is our call, not for sympathy, but for accountability. Because we cannot rebuild a nation on hollow promises and stolen funds. The Filipino people deserve more than sandbags and speeches; they deserve leaders with integrity, systems that protect, and governance that serves.

The spirit of compassion and service illuminated Roxas City as the Capiz Lions Club and Capiz Lioness Lions Club spearheaded the groundbreaking ceremony for the GUGMA Cancer Treatment Facility for Pediatric Patients at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital, Brgy. Lanot, Oct. 28.

The event was made possible through the collaboration of the Lions Club International District 301-B1, Lions Club International Foundation, and the Provincial Government of Capiz.

The ceremony marked the beginning of a transformative health project that will soon serve as a dedicated treatment center for children battling cancer in the province.

The term “GUGMA,” which means “love” in Hiligaynon, symbolizes the core mission of the facility—to provide compassionate, accessible, and life-saving care for pediatric patients.

Capiz Governor Fredinil H. Castro led the ceremony as a gesture of his heartfelt compassion and commitment to Capizeños, especially those afflicted by cancer.

The project forms part of Governor Castro’s promise to strengthen medical services in the province and ease the struggles of families who often seek financial assistance and treatment in distant hospitals.

Joining the governor in the momentous event were Vice Governor James Magbanua, Board Members Ivy Fundal, Neriza Joy San Felix, Blesilda Almalbis, Cecilio Fecundo, and Gilbert Ardivilla, PCL President Erwin Andrada, Provincial Engineer Antonio Cerado, Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Alex Nolasco, Provincial Administrator Atty. Arthur Biñas, and Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Leobeth Delicana.

Also present were representatives from Garrod Incorporated, the group that will assist in managing the facility once established.

Community leaders, local officials, and members of the Lions and Lioness Clubs including delegates from the Capiz LEO Club – FCU Chapter (CLC FCU) gathered to witness the momentous occasion that signifies hope and unity in advancing public health.

The envisioned facility aims to reduce the burden on families who travel to distant areas for cancer care by bringing specialized treatment closer to home.

Capiz Leo Club FCU Chapter (CLC-FCU) successfully conducted the second batch of its “Roar of Service” recruitment interviews on October 15, 2025, held at the Kindergarten Building.

This initiative aims to welcome new members into the Leo movement—young individuals driven by leadership, service, and fellowship. Following the first batch’s success, the second tranche continued to attract aspiring Leos' eager to make a difference in their communities.

Under the guidance of the chapter officers and members, the interviews ran smoothly with an organized first-come, first-served system. Applicants were encouraged to showcase their passion for volunteerism and commitment to the club's 8-point Advocacy.

The Roar of Service serves as a key step in introducing the values and mission of the Leo Movement to potential members. With this, the CLC-FCU Chapter continues to strengthen its pride of service, building a community of youth leaders ready to serve and roar louder for change.
