Macutay Palao National High School Hosted Adolescent Reproductive Health Symposium: A Call to Action for Youth Well-being
Macutay Palao National High School held a successful Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) Symposium with the theme "A Call to Action for Adolescent Health and Well-being," aimed at empowering students to prioritize their health and make informed decisions about their well-being.
The symposium, which was organized in collaboration with the Science and ARH Club and supported by the Supreme Student Government (SSLG), was divided into two sessions: one for Junior High School students in the morning and another for Senior High School students in the afternoon.
The event featured an impressive lineup of guest speakers who tackled a range of critical health topics:
- Dra. Ma. Veronica Calpito , Medical Physician from DepEd Kalinga, the school nurse, kicked off the symposium with a discussion on Personal Hygiene, Grooming, and Sanitation, stressing the importance of proper hygiene practices to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Ma'am Jaycee Mae C. Ading,SNHS Faculty, presented on SHAPE - A Sexually Healthy and Personally Empowered Adolescent, encouraging students to be confident in taking control of their health and well-being.
- Hon. Consolacion S. Catalon, Sangguniang Bayan Member, inspired students with her talk on maintaining a **Healthy Body and a Healthy Relationship with God, emphasizing the balance between physical health and spiritual well-being.
- Ma'am Soledad May V. Plumentera, a nurse from RHU Macutay, addressed students on the dangers of HIV-AIDS, STDs, and Other Diseases, providing crucial information on prevention and how to seek medical help if needed.
- Ma'am Selma Dinamilig, nurse from the Schools Division Office, discussed the pressing issue of Teenage Pregnancy, educating students about its consequences and preventive measures alongside Ma'am Beatrix Jo S. Fos-oy, school nurse.
The event was made possible by the support of generous sponsors, including
Ac Ravina, Hon. Consolacion D. Catalon, Winsonjaye Esteban, Rhalyn Eloide Fuggan, and Ma'am Marve Gaddao and her husband, whose contributions ensured the success of this health initiative.
The symposium was met with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty, marking a significant step toward improving the health and well-being of the youth in the community.
