Highlanders Convene for Strategic Planning and Leadership Transition
On June 3, 2026, members of the Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands gathered for a hybrid club meeting at Pepeton's Grill, Marikina City, presided over by Charter President
Prisco Rivera, Jr. The meeting served as an important opportunity for fellowship, reflection, and discussion on key matters concerning the club's future.
Among the agenda items was a post-mortem review of the recently concluded inauguration of the club's Global Grant Project, "Daloy ng Pag-asa: Kalusugan at Kaunlaran, Alay sa Mangyan," in Baco, Oriental Mindoro. Members shared insights, experiences, and lessons learned from the successful implementation and inauguration of the project, recognizing the collective efforts of club members and partners who contributed to its success.
The club also discussed pressing matters concerning membership development, succession planning, and the sustainability of future leadership. Guided by Rotary's principles of service, continuity, and collaboration, members engaged in thoughtful and constructive dialogue on how best to strengthen the club and ensure its continued growth.
Following careful deliberation and in consideration of recent developments within the club's leadership structure, three Highlanders were shortlisted as the clubโs next leader. Majority of the Highlanders voted for Rtn. Ma. Emflor Joy Amurao as the club's new President-Elect, to take the lead effective July 1, 2026. The election reflected the confidence and trust of the membership in her ability to help lead the club in the coming Rotary year. She was formally endorsed to take the special Presidents-Elect Training Seminar scheduled on 07June 2026.
As the meeting concluded, members reaffirmed their commitment to unity, service, and the shared vision that continues to guide the Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands. With renewed purpose and leadership in place, the Highlanders remain focused on creating meaningful impact in their communities while strengthening the bonds of fellowship that define Rotary.
