Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands Holds Strategic Planning for a Create Lasting Impact Year

On June 12, 2026, the Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands conducted its Strategic Planning Session at the residence of the Rivera family in Woodland Hills Subdivision, San Mateo, Rizal. The gathering brought together club leaders and members to prepare for the upcoming Rotary year and align their goals with the theme, "Create Lasting Impact."

President-Elect Ma. Emflor Joy Amurao introduced her new set of officers and presented the district's direction for the year ahead. Joining the session were Incoming Senior Assistant Governor Lenie Ligsay and Assistant Governor Gloria "Oya" Del Rosario, accompanied by her Rotarian spouse, who shared the vision of District Governor-Elect Celso Montalla and encouraged members to focus on projects that will create meaningful and sustainable change in their communities.

District Public Image Chair Brian Ligsay also attended the planning session and shared updates on the district's public image efforts, emphasizing the importance of effectively communicating Rotary's impact and increasing public awareness of the organization's service initiatives.

A highlight of the session was the collaborative discussion on service projects. President-Elect Amurao encouraged members to share their ideas, insights, and aspirations on how the club can best implement the Create Lasting Impact theme. The active exchange of perspectives reflected the Highlanders' collective commitment to service, innovation, and community development.

The day concluded on a high note with a lively videoke sessionโ€”the Highlanders' way of celebrating fellowship. Filled with music, laughter, and camaraderie, the evening showcased the strong bonds among members and served as a fitting end to a productive planning session, setting the tone for a Rotary year dedicated to service, friendship, and lasting impact.

PE Em Steps Forward to Lead with Purpose and Service

The Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands proudly celebrates the participation of its newly elected President-Elect, Ma. Emflor Joy โ€œPE Emโ€ Amurao, in the Presidents-Elect Learning Seminar (PELS) held on June 6, 2026, at Valle Verde Country Club, Pasig City.

Designed to equip incoming club presidents with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration needed for a successful Rotary year, PELS serves as an essential milestone in preparing leaders to carry forward Rotaryโ€™s mission of service above self. By attending this mandatory seminar, PE Em demonstrated her commitment to embracing the responsibilities entrusted to her by the club and to preparing herself for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Taking on the role with courage and dedication, PE Em bravely accepted the challenge of leadership despite the limited time given to prepare for her new responsibility. Her willingness to learn, grow, and lead reflects the very essence of Rotary leadershipโ€”one that is grounded in service, integrity, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference.

The Highlanders are confident that under PE Emโ€™s leadership, the Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands will continue to thrive and strengthen its culture of fellowship and service. Guided by compassion and humility, she is expected to further unite the members, inspire meaningful action, and build on the clubโ€™s legacy of impactful community service.

As Rotary District 3800 calls on leaders to โ€œCreate Lasting Impact,โ€ the club looks forward to a new Rotary year where PE Em will help steer the Highlanders to greater heights, expand opportunities for service, and create meaningful change in the communities we serve.

Congratulations, PE Em! The Highlanders stand proudly behind you as you prepare to lead with heart, purpose, and the Rotary spirit of service. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

Highlanders Convene for Strategic Planning and Leadership Transition

On June 3, 2026, members of the Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands gathered for a hybrid club meeting at Pepeton's Grill, Marikina City, presided over by Charter President
Prisco Rivera, Jr. The meeting served as an important opportunity for fellowship, reflection, and discussion on key matters concerning the club's future.

Among the agenda items was a post-mortem review of the recently concluded inauguration of the club's Global Grant Project, "Daloy ng Pag-asa: Kalusugan at Kaunlaran, Alay sa Mangyan," in Baco, Oriental Mindoro. Members shared insights, experiences, and lessons learned from the successful implementation and inauguration of the project, recognizing the collective efforts of club members and partners who contributed to its success.

The club also discussed pressing matters concerning membership development, succession planning, and the sustainability of future leadership. Guided by Rotary's principles of service, continuity, and collaboration, members engaged in thoughtful and constructive dialogue on how best to strengthen the club and ensure its continued growth.

Following careful deliberation and in consideration of recent developments within the club's leadership structure, three Highlanders were shortlisted as the clubโ€™s next leader. Majority of the Highlanders voted for Rtn. Ma. Emflor Joy Amurao as the club's new President-Elect, to take the lead effective July 1, 2026. The election reflected the confidence and trust of the membership in her ability to help lead the club in the coming Rotary year. She was formally endorsed to take the special Presidents-Elect Training Seminar scheduled on 07June 2026.

As the meeting concluded, members reaffirmed their commitment to unity, service, and the shared vision that continues to guide the Rotary Club of San Mateo Highlands. With renewed purpose and leadership in place, the Highlanders remain focused on creating meaningful impact in their communities while strengthening the bonds of fellowship that define Rotary.
