OFFICIAL STATEMENT
The Rotaract Club of Tomas Claudio Colleges would like to address the recent issue involving the alleged use of AI in the publication material.
First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the manner in which the concern was delivered. If the words, tone, or approach used by one of our member came across as offensive, disrespectful, or caused any misunderstanding, we extend our sincerest apologies to everyone who was affected. It was never our intention to create conflict between organizations or departments, nor was it our intention to discredit anyoneβs work.
We would also like to clarify the intention behind our memberβs post. The reaction was made in response to the official Tomas Claudio Colleges post where the publication material was shared, and it was never intended to directly target, attack, or single out the Department, its students, or its organization. The concern raised was focused on the broader discussion regarding the responsible and transparent use of AI in creative works. It was intended to encourage awareness and accountability regarding AI-assisted outputs, and not to shame, insult, or discredit any department or individual.
However, we recognize that because the publication material originated from a specific department, the post may have been interpreted as a direct attack against the department. We understand how this misunderstanding arose, and for that, we sincerely apologize. We acknowledge that the manner in which the concern was expressed contributed to the confusion surrounding the issue.
At the same time, we believe that accountability begins with ourselves. Before expecting others to acknowledge their mistakes, we must also be willing to recognize our own. As an organization, we acknowledge that one of our members made the statement, βDi man lang ako kinabahan kay _______.β We recognize that this remark was inappropriate and unnecessary, and that it only added more fuel to the situation. Regardless of the intention behind those words, we understand that they contributed to the tension and misunderstanding surrounding this issue. For that, we sincerely apologize.
Following this incident, we have already reminded our members to be more mindful of their words and actions, especially on social media. As student leaders, we recognize that our statements carry responsibility and can easily influence how situations are perceived. We remain committed to ensuring that our officers uphold professionalism, respect, and accountability in both their online and offline conduct.
At the same time, we also believe that accountability should apply to everyone involved. We hope that all parties remain open to acknowledging their own actions if there were lapses or misunderstandings on their part as well. This situation should not become a matter of proving who is right or wrong, but rather an opportunity for everyone to learn, communicate better, and move forward with mutual respect and professionalism.
We would also like to respectfully express our concern regarding how this matter was addressed publicly. As fellow student leaders, we believe that concerns involving organizations should, as much as possible, be communicated directly with the organization or its officers before being brought to social media. Since the Rotaract Club of Tomas Claudio Colleges became involved in this issue, we believe it would have been more appropriate if the concern had first been raised directly to me, as the Club President, or to our officers. We have always been open to conversations, clarifications, and constructive dialogue. We believe that addressing concerns privately before making them public helps prevent unnecessary misunderstandings and avoids involving individuals and organizations who may not have been directly responsible.
Furthermore, we respectfully request that the Rotaract Club of Tomas Claudio Colleges no longer be involved or tagged in this matter. The actions or statements of one individual should not define the organization as a whole, nor should they overshadow the values that Rotaract upholds. Our organization remains committed to service, integrity, professionalism, respect, and unity. We believe that concerns of this nature are best resolved by the individuals directly involved rather than allowing the entire organization to be dragged into the issue.
The Rotaract Club of Tomas Claudio Colleges remains committed to fostering a culture of respect, professionalism, and responsible leadership within our school community. We sincerely hope that this matter will not be further escalated and that everyone can move forward with understanding, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to constructive communication.
Once again, we extend our sincerest apologies to everyone who was affected by this incident. We hope that this experience serves as a reminder that accountability, professionalism, and respectful communication are responsibilities shared by all of us, especially as student leaders. May this situation become an opportunity for learning rather than division, so that we can continue building a school community grounded in respect, understanding, and unity.
Thank you.
