Jose V. Yap Sports & Recreational Complex at the Tarlac Recreational Park became our home base for an unforgettable weekend. We had the most of our time in Tarlac as three of our dedicated members used their preregistration slots to conquer the stunning Mt. Pinatubo Hike and explore the “𝘉𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳”.
Cheers to the team basecamp! Your positive energy kept the good vibes flowing while the hiking team was out on the trail. This event was more than just a conference; it was a powerful reminder that the true value of the outdoor experience lies in the community, the unbeatable camaraderie, and the energized shared passion we all bring to the trail.

A special shoutout to our friends in the Sukisok Quirino Outdoor Club ! Thanks so much for the great company and making the travels so smooth throughout this journey. And to Tarlac Mountaineering Club, our sincere appreciation for organizing such a stellar event that beautifully celebrates Tarlac's natural beauty and mountaineering heritage.

So many great memories made. 👇

There’s an unspoken pressure in hiking to keep up with the group. You feel it when everyone laces their boots tighter, adjusts their packs, and takes those first determined steps into the trail. But for some of us, the trail isn’t about speed. It’s about something deeper.

I’ve been the slowest person on hikes more times than I care to admit. I would apologize for stopping to catch my breath, for drinking water too often, or for wanting to take a picture of every flower that caught my eye. I felt like I was holding everyone back. But as the miles stacked up and the scenery changed from dense forests to panoramic views, I realized something. Being slow didn’t make my hike any less meaningful.

If anything, it gave me more time to notice the things others rushed past. The crunch of leaves underfoot, the way sunlight dances through the trees, the subtle shift in the wind before a bird takes flight. I got to witness it all. While others raced to reach the summit, I savored every step of the journey.

Being the slowest person on the trail has taught me humility and patience. It has shown me that hiking isn’t a competition. Every hiker has their own pace, their own struggles, and their own reasons for being out there. For some, it’s a fitness goal. For others, it’s healing. For me, it’s the peace of moving at my own rhythm and proving to myself that I can make it to the top, even if it takes a little longer.

So if you find yourself lagging behind, don’t feel bad. The trail isn’t judging you, and neither are the mountains. They will wait for you, just like the people who truly matter in your life will. It’s okay to be slow as long as you keep moving forward.
