๐†๐š๐›๐ž ๐“๐ข๐š๐ง๐จ, on the other hand, although appearing dark and diabolic, still grounds his works in universal themes: time, death, suffering, and change. These common and almost banal themes appear in his drawings as metaphysical and metaphorical symbolsโ€”like magical, hand-drawn cards that explain the fate and circumstance of their bearer.

The title of the show itself, ๐„๐‘๐Ž๐’๐ˆ๐Ž๐ ๐Ž๐… ๐Œ๐ˆ๐๐ˆ๐Œ๐€๐‹ ๐’๐„๐‹๐…-๐„๐—๐๐„๐‘๐ˆ๐„๐๐‚๐„, refers to a kind of disruption and deterioration of identity. This seemingly anachronisticโ€”out of time and out of placeโ€”approach to image-making might also construe that same detachment against the bombardment of multisensorial and multifaceted digital images. The way the works try to detach themselves from the slew of capitalist media and platforms is contradictorily refreshing and bold. Within the realm of mysticism, nostalgia, and ritual, Alamillo and Tiano are on their way to finding new visual languages and motifs, hoping also to find themselves amid the crisis of modern afflictions to which they have succumbed in their own personal experiences. And these expressions, although transcendental or supernatural in nature, come from deep, personal, and creative manifestations of the self.

A makeshift structure painted pink hangs the various art pieces authored by the collectiveโ€™s members: the group chat and online spreadsheet accommodating and encouraging โ€“ โ€œMatagal pa yung exhibit puwede magsabit ng work anytime.โ€ Each item on display obscures text on the front-facing walls of the sculptural installation in the artist-run space, talking about the artist-run space and the market โ€“ a navigation of what โ€˜marketโ€™ even means at the scale at which ๐“๐“ป๐“ฝ๐“ผ๐“ฌ๐“ฑ๐“ธ๐“ธ๐“ต๐“ท๐“ธ๐”€ moves.

Paintings hang closely beside protection salts in bottles. Hair clips, rings, bangles โ€“ there is a flattening of valuation that makes the interconnectedness visible: Yas Sehobโ€™s Spiritlogs, egghead-shaped wishing candles a few cells away in the spreadsheet from Lilayโ€™s Modern Scapular(s) and Pocket Altars, on display with Every by Slowtearโ€™s Bag 100. The work is in dialogue: inspired by everyday ritual and the everyday navigation of bridging oneโ€™s art practice with oneโ€™s audience.
