With flooding increasing the risk of leptospirosis, now is the right time to equip ourselves and our communities with the knowledge needed to stay safe. Leptospirosis is a widespread zoonotic infectious disease caused by pathogenic spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. It is transmitted primarily through exposure to water, soil, or other environmental sources contaminated with the urine of infected animals, particularly rodents, dogs, livestock, and other mammals. Knowing who is at risk, how transmission happens, its warning signs, and how to prevent infection can help protect ourselves and those around us.

Let this be a reminder that information is also a form of service. Stay informed, stay cautious, and share reliable health information. ❤️
