🩺💙 Brighter Horizons Health Update (November–December 2025)

Following the successful medical check-ups in Payatas B Elementary School, the Brighter Horizons Project funded by the NEXT Foundation continued its school-based health services in Bagbag Elementary School and Bagong Pag-asa Elementary School, reaching all enrolled SNED learners (65 children in Bagbag and 87 children in Bagong Pag-asa) during November and December 2025.

These activities were made possible with the support of Caleb’s Mountain Ministries, whose medical volunteers helped conduct the check-ups. We also acknowledge the proactive role of Bagong Pag-asa Elementary School, whose teacher-coordinators helped make this partnership possible—support that also benefited Bagbag during scheduling challenges. 🤝

🟡 One more partner school to go, and we look forward to completing this important milestone soon. Step by step, we continue working toward healthier, more supported learning environments for children with special needs.

Last Saturday, 13 December 2025, 35 Haligi ng Bata, Inc.–supported children enjoyed a fun-filled Outreach Program with the group headed by Nick Quiambao.

In the middle of the program, our HBI Social Worker had a quick chat with one of the group members and learned that their outreach was originally planned for another group. Along the way, plans changed, and they ended up spending their Saturday with HBI’s children instead. We’re truly grateful they pushed through with a full program, gave their time, and brought the kind of warmth and energy that made the kids feel seen and celebrated. 💛

The children had a great time with the games, lively program, good food, and special treats and goodies that made the day extra memorable. Lots of smiles, lots of laughter, and that kind of lightness kids deserve to feel. 🎉🍽️🎁

RELX Cares made our kids smile even brighter 😊✨

On 06 December 2025, 31 HBI children from the PRIDAKAS area in different pockets of Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City enjoyed a fun-filled outreach activity under the RELX CARES Bright Smiles Program of Reed Elsevier Philippines.

There were games, laughter, and lots of stories 🥰 Each child received special gifts – school supplies and goodies to bring home – plus a hearty lunch that everyone enjoyed together. 🍽️🎁

The donors also provided additional school supply packs, which HBI will distribute to other children in need in our partner communities. 📚💼

Our heartfelt thanks to our friends from RELX Cares, especially Sir Dan and the whole team, for sharing your time, generosity, and love with the children. 💛 Because of partners like you, our communities feel seen, supported, and inspired to dream bigger. 🌈✨

The simplest ideas often make the biggest impact. ❤️🍲✨

In Mangaan Elementary School, tucked in the far-flung mountains of Santol, La Union, there was one challenge that kept coming up again and again:
No steady canteen service.
No affordable, nutritious food for the kids.
And a school that needed additional operating funds.

Sometimes the best solution is the most practical one — a school canteen run by the community itself.

Through the Adopt-a-School Project of HBI, funded by The Ylenia Foundation (Switzerland), the school launched the School Canteen Parents’ Cooperative Project — a small, simple, community-driven livelihood effort now making a difference.

Here’s what made it work:
• 20 Mangaan parents completed HBI’s training program on food preparation, menu planning, proper nutrition, and safe food handling.
• Parents also attended basic bookkeeping and income-expense recording sessions to ensure transparency and good management.
• HBI and Ylenia Foundation provided new kitchen tools, utensils, and seed capital to start operations.
• Teachers offer on-site support and guidance, strengthening school-community collaboration.

And now?
• Mangaan Elementary School finally has a consistent canteen service — something it never had before.
• Children can enjoy fresh, nutritious, and affordable meals every day.
• The school now earns additional income that can support its other needs.

A simple solution addressing hunger, access, participation, and sustainability — all at once.
Community-led. Empowering. Effective.

This is what shared action looks like. And this is how change begins. 🌱💛

🩺🌈 Kicking Off the Brighter Horizons School-Based Medical Missions! 🌈🩺

Today marks the official start of our school-based medical missions under the Brighter Horizons Adopt-a-School Project — beginning at Payatas B Elementary School in Quezon City with medical check-ups for all 200 enrolled Special Needs Education (SNED) learners.

This milestone event is a joint undertaking between Haligi ng Bata, Inc. (HBI) and Payatas B Elementary School, working hand in hand to make sure every child receives the care they deserve.

Through the Brighter Horizons Project, HBI provided all needed medicines, vitamins, and health supplies for the check-ups, while Payatas B Elementary School mobilized the medical manpower — doctors, nurses, and community health workers — who generously dedicated their time today. 💛

This is only the beginning.
Three more school-based medical missions will follow soon in:

On November 19, 2025, Haligi ng Bata, Inc. welcomed the YML Group Outsource Manila Inc. team for a heartwarming company outreach event for 25 HBI-supported children at the HBI Activity Center. 💛✨

The children had a wonderful afternoon filled with:
🎉 Fun and lively games
🎨 Creative art activities
🍗 A hearty merienda from Jollibee, complete with toy freebies
🎁 Thoughtful gifts prepared by YML employees — school supplies and hygiene kits the kids were so excited to bring home
🌟🧸 Additional toy donations that HBI will provide to children in partner public daycare centers

YML also generously donated ₱10,000 to support HBI’s upcoming Christmas activities for our other sponsored children. This contribution will make the holidays brighter for many more families. 🌲💛

The event was led by Ms. Paowee Otico, a former sponsored child herself under Lingap Foundation (now Children International). She shared how meaningful it felt to give back now that she’s in a position to help — a full-circle moment that deeply inspired us. 🌼✨

Haligi ng Bata, Inc. is grateful to once again welcome Ms. Trixie Lorenzo, who celebrated her second outreach event with our children last November 15, 2025! 🌟

Earlier this year, on January 25, 2025 - https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CzQhLmN7N/, Trixie held her very first outreach with us for 20 HBI-supported kids - and this month, she returned to bring joy to another 20 children from Brgy. Holy Spirit. 🥰

And just like before, Trixie made sure the day was unforgettable:

🕊️💛 A Birthday Filled With Love and Giving 💛🕊️

Last November 14, 2025, Haligi ng Bata, Inc. had the honor of joining Ms. Cami Valdez and Mr. Christian Paday as they celebrated the birthday of their son, Johann Mateo V. Paday — an angel on loan from heaven, born into God’s embrace.

To honor Johann’s life, Cami and Christian chose to celebrate his birthday in the most meaningful way: by sharing love, joy, and kindness with 20 HBI-supported children from Brgy. Holy Spirit. 🎂✨

The outreach was filled with snacks, treats, games, and laughter, creating moments of happiness the children will surely remember. 🌈💖 Cami and Christian personally prepared the meals and the children’s loot bags themselves, pouring their love and care into every detail of the celebration. 💛🍱🎁

We deeply admire Cami and Christian for turning their grief into generosity, choosing to honor Johann by bringing light to other children. Their compassion reminds us that love can continue to shine even through the hardest moments. 🌟

🎒🌼 Sharing Hope, One School Bag at a Time 💛

Yesterday, November 5, 2025, Haligi ng Bata, Inc. visited Lupang Pangako Elementary School in Payatas, Quezon City to distribute bags, school supplies, educational toys, and instructional materials to 500 Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2 learners! ✨

This activity is made possible through the continued support of our GlobalGiving partners, who help ensure that children in marginalized communities like Payatas can start the school year with confidence, joy, and the tools they need to learn. 🌱📚

The children excitedly opened their new bags and materials — their smiles reminding us that small acts of kindness can create big moments of happiness. 💕 For many families here, buying complete school supplies can be difficult, and this support eases that burden in a meaningful way.

We also provided educational toys and instructional materials to the classrooms to support teachers in creating more interactive and engaging lessons. 🧩🎨 Because better tools = better learning. ✨

🎉 A Birthday to Remember! 🎂

Even with the gloomy weather, Ms. A***n Golondrina chose to brighten the day by celebrating her birthday with 40 HBI-supported kids from Brgy. Holy Spirit! 🌧️❤️

From 10 AM to 12 PM, the kids enjoyed fun games, yummy snacks and treats, lively songs, and of course — a delicious birthday cake! 🎂🎈 Their laughter and smiles filled the room, proof that joy shines through no matter the weather. ☀️

A huge thank you to A***n, her cousins, and siblings for spending time with the children and making this day extra special. 💕

A Day of Joy and Giving with the Good Samaritan Foundation 💚

Good deeds, even when delayed, always find their way to make an impact. 🌤️

Last October 4, 2025, Haligi ng Bata, Inc. (HBI) welcomed the Good Samaritan Foundation, a student group from FEU Diliman, for an Outreach Program with 20 children from the Brgy. Holy Spirit community, one of HBI’s program areas. 👧🧒

Originally scheduled the week prior but postponed due to the typhoon 🌧️, the event became a bright and joy-filled afternoon of fun games 🎯, shared lunch 🍽️, art activities 🎨, tokens of appreciation 🎁, and a big group photo 📸 to remember it all.

Special thanks to Ms. Bianca Lumbo of the Good Samaritan Foundation for spearheading the coordination with HBI and making this day possible. 💐

Your time, energy, and generosity brought smiles, laughter, and warmth that truly embodied the spirit of the Good Samaritan — proof that kindness always finds its moment to shine. 💛
