RCQCC History
The idea to Charter a new club never came into our minds until May 31, 2013, when our former club, RC Metro Diliman, can’t seem to decide on who will take the president’s role of our former Club, after the supposedly President Elect had refused, and the next chosen candidate also refused to take the role. After the unpleasant confrontation on differences of policies and opinions dur
ing a Board Meeting, the majority of the members present unanimously agreed to charter a new club. When the decision was finally made, AG Ernie Paranis, PP Andy Que and President Les Narcelles took the initiative to work on the chartering of a new club. The first move was to seek advice from the District Governor Penny Policarpio, PDG Jess Cifra, PDGN Rey David, DGSR Jesse Tanchanco and AG Adel Corpus on the possibility of chartering a new club. Penny Policarpio held in Pico de Loro on June 1, 2013, seek advice and approval of the proposed chartering of a new club. On June 13, 2013, the core group, led by AG Ernie Paranis, met DGSR Jesse Tanchanco at the Rotary Center to inquire about the requirements of chartering a new club. The following day, the group met with Gov. Penny Policarpio before the meeting of Council of Governor’s Board Meeting held at Citybest Restaurant on June 4, 2013, in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. PDG Jess Cifra joined us the meeting. After narrating what transpired during the clubs last board meeting, and the decision of the group to charter a new club, Gov. Penny Policarpio gave his blessings. The Rotary Club of Camp Aguinaldo offered to sponsor the new club. Thereafter, a new hope started to bloom the preparation of the charter documents started with the prodding of DGSR Jesse Tanchanco whom we discovered to be a fast break worker. Choosing the name of the new club was a problem. Submitting several names, the name of Rotary Club of Quezon City Central was approved by the Rotary International. On June 7, 2013, after paying the charter dues at the Philippines Consulting Office, Salcedo St. Legaspi Village, Makati, the club became a Provisional Club. On June 14, 2013, the club received an email confirming the approval of the chartering of the new club-The Rotary Club of Quezon City Central. The first General Assembly of the club was held on the charter date, June 14, 2013 with all the 25 charter members and guests Rotarians and non-Rotarians in attendance. Governor Winston Sia conducted the 1st Rotary Orientation to the club. It was a historic day of celebrating the announcement of the birth of a new club in RI District 3780. In our desire to start right, on June 23, 2013, the new club held its 1st Strategic and Club Planning at City Hideaway in Antipolo, Rizal. It was a morning-noon-till midnight seminar-workshop conducted by AG Ernie Paranis. The members actively participated in crafting the design of the club’s roadmap for the year and 3 years ahead. These plans gave direction for the club to function effectively that funneled the club to actively commence service projects while at the same time strengthening its membership base. The 1st project of the club was the holding of Rotary Children’s Party, with Story Telling and the donation of amplifier to the Yakap Day Care Center last July 5, 2013 in Brgy. Paligsahan, held in Rotary Center, Quezon City. Numerous community service projects followed, like Bloodletting, Disaster Relief and Operations, Outreach Feeding Program, “Poso Mula sa Puso” Project, “Buntis Assembly,” Dengue and Leptospirosis information and awareness program, medical bed and wheel chair donations, tree planting, “Adopt A Barangay” Program. After more than a month, the club gained a positive growth of 6 quality members. As of today, the Rotary Club of Quezon City Central is proud to announce that it has performed more than what the club aimed to do in just 83 days of existence.
