2026 GALING POOK AWARDS FINALIST: Province of Davao del Norte | Kawsa sa Agrikultura ug Panginabuhian sa Barangay (KAAGAPAY) 🌾🤝

In Davao del Norte, rural poverty and armed insurgency reinforced one another across Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDA) barangays, indigenous communities, and conflict-affected barangays, leaving households vulnerable to insurgent recruitment.

Through KAAGAPAY, the Provincial Government delivers agricultural inputs, technical assistance, and guaranteed market access to beneficiaries organized into People's Organizations across all 223 barangays.

According to the Province, KAAGAPAY served 27,300 individuals through 1,046 People's Organizations in 2025, with members earning an average of ₱8,000 in additional income per year. Stay tuned to find out if KAAGAPAY makes it to this year's Galing Pook awardees. 🥇

2026 GALING POOK AWARDS FINALIST: Butuan City | MOVE BUTUAN 🚦🛵

As the regional center and transport gateway of Caraga, Butuan faces road crashes, unsafe road-user behavior, and low compliance with traffic and transport laws, challenges the City recognized could not be addressed by enforcement alone.

Through MOVE BUTUAN, the City Transportation and Traffic Management Department brought together 15 initiatives in road-safety education, driver competency assessment, enforcement, community participation, and transport planning under one framework.

According to City data, comparing the first three quarters of 2025 with the same period in 2026, helmet violations fell by 63.3% and motorcycle crashes by 13.5%. Keep following us to learn if MOVE BUTUAN earns a spot among this year's Galing Pook awardees. 🥇

2026 GALING POOK AWARDS FINALIST: Bataan Province | KITa-KITá: 1Bataan, 1KIT Towards Effective Real Property Tax Administration System 🗺️🏠

Across Bataan's eleven Municipal Assessor's Offices, varying assessment practices, tax mapping methods, and procedures resulted in inaccurate property records, uneven service delivery, delayed transactions, and missed revenue opportunities.

Through KITa-KITá, the Provincial Assessor's Office integrated the General Revision of Property Assessments, GIS-based tax mapping, and a centralized digital records system into one province-wide framework.

According to provincial data, the program generated ₱3.44 billion in additional Real Property Tax collections from 2013 to 2025, without new taxes or increased tax rates. Follow along as we find out if KITa-KITá will be named among this year's Galing Pook awardees. 🥇

2026 GALING POOK AWARDS FINALIST: Bataan Province | Bataan E-Mobility ⚡🚌

In Bataan, government vehicles ran on fuel paid for from provincial funds, while some routes and hours remained beyond the reach of existing public transport.

Through Bataan E-Mobility, the Province added 32 electric vehicles to its government fleet, launched free rides through Libreng Sakay sa EV, reserved 150 TNVS slots exclusively for EVs, and partnered with the private sector on charging stations.

According to provincial data, the Province's EV fleet has saved ₱8.19 million in fuel costs and cut 328,625 kg of CO2 emissions since 2023. Stay tuned to find out if Bataan E-Mobility makes it to this year's Galing Pook awardees. 🥇

2026 GALING POOK AWARDS FINALIST: Bataan Province | 1Bataan Pawikan Conservation Alliance Network (1PawiCAN) 🐢🌊

Degraded nesting beaches, poaching, improper hatchling handling, and fisheries bycatch threaten pawikan at every stage of life in Bataan, while the Province's conservation program was once confined to a single hatchery in Morong.

Through 1PawiCAN, the Provincial Government united government agencies, people's organizations, the private sector, and academe into one province-wide conservation network across four coastal municipalities, centering their innovation across various sectors.

2026 GALING POOK AWARDS FINALIST: Baguio City | Project Denguerra – War on Dengue 🦟🚫

Rapid urbanization, water storage amid scarcity, and a changing climate turned dengue into a recurring threat in Baguio City, culminating in a major outbreak in 2024.

Through DENGUERRA, Baguio City brought clean-up drives, surveillance, geo-tagged case mapping, school-based vector control, and community action into one citywide campaign, now backed by ordinance and executive order.
