GUIDING PRINCIPLES
It is the organizationโ€™s belief that the intergenerational approach to building a Culture of Peace is one of the keys to achieving a peaceful society. Teach Peace Build Peace Movement creates different generations of peace heroes towards our goal of having a just and peaceful society. We have to teach peace to build peace with the aim of transforming and empowering the younger generations to be prime movers and look at our society through lenses of peace. We believe that every child and youth has an innate quality of tolerance and unbiasedness and that prejudice is subsequently learned later in life. It is vital that we develop their ability to foster peace in this critical period with an integration of understanding and appreciating cultural and religious diversity, history, and a lifestyle of peace regardless of culture, faith, gender, or heritage, will choose a peaceful co-existence and positive path.

DAY 4 | Intergenerational Peace Education Leaders Fellowship

Focused on reimagining peace education and applying design thinking to their vision of transformation. Fellows explored what it means to move beyond programs and toward building systems that sustain peace.

As part of this, fellows were introduced to TPBPMโ€™s P.E.A.C.E Framework โ€” a whole school approach to building a culture of peace, where values, systems, relationships, and daily practices are aligned toward lasting transformation.

They began to envision what a fully peace-centered school or organization looks like, expand their thinking from program-based to systems-based peace education, and identify long-term aspirations for meaningful and lasting institutional change. โœจ๏ธ

From classroom interactions to school culture, participants witnessed how peace can be lived and not just taught.

In the afternoon, fellows engaged in a meaningful learning conversation with our peace partners from the Rotary Club of Makati San Lorenzo, exchanging insights and strengthening partnerships for peace education. โ˜ฎ๏ธ

DAY 1 | Intergenerational Peace Education Leaders Fellowship

Leaders, peacebuilders, and educators from different generations came together in Tagaytay for a 4-day journey โ€” to reflect, unlearn, and deepen what it truly means to lead with compassion.

From different stories, but with one shared purpose: to grow from within and lead with empathy, awareness, and courage.

Day 2 focused on helping the Ranao Youth Development Council move from ideas to clearer program designs for the Ranaw Youth Development Plan 2026โ€“2028. Through design thinking activities, participants practiced listening first before deciding on solutions. They identified what children and youth need, what should happen in response, and what kind of change the plan should help create.

In the afternoon, the groups created experience flow prototypes based on the five thematic areas of the plan: youth participation and governance, child and youth protection, education and economic empowerment, peacebuilding and community resilience, and sustainable development and healthy living. Each group mapped how young people would enter a program, what they would experience, what they could produce, and what support should continue after the activity.

The next step is to refine these outputs using feedback, data, and the MAY PUSO lens, so the plan is not only written well but can also be implemented well. The session also reminded everyone that youth, peace, and development are shared work. โœจ๏ธ

We are grateful to the Ranao Youth Development Office of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur for opening this space of collaboration and allowing us to explore how our shared efforts, together with TPBPM Lanao Circle - SALAM for Peace Collectives, can contribute to sustaining peace education in Lanao del Sur. โ˜ฎ๏ธ

With children and youth at the heart of our peace education mission, Teach Peace Build Peace Movement (TPBPM) supported the development of the Ranaw Youth Development Plan 2026โ€“2028 through the Ranao Youth Development Council continuing mandatory training and planning workshop. The activity brought together young leaders and partners to reflect on youth realities in Lanao del Sur, strengthen peace-sensitive planning, and explore how programs can become more inclusive, grounded, and responsive to the needs of children and youth.

We deeply value peace partnerships that help move peace education beyond one-time activities and into systems that can sustain the mission. Our collaboration with the Ranaw Youth Development Office of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur is imperative as we link community-based peace education with youth governance, planning, policy, and local implementation.

For us, peace education becomes stronger when young people are not only participants, but co-designers, advocates, and partners in shaping the systems that affect their lives. โœจ๏ธ โ˜ฎ๏ธ

Hearing leaders and young people speak with pride and conviction reminded us why this matters: when a womanโ€™s devotion and voice are honored together, communities grow stronger. At TPBPM, we remain committed to standing with the Bangsamoro woman, and supporting spaces where her faith is respected, her leadership is nurtured, and her empowerment is deeply rooted in who she is. โ˜ฎ๏ธ
