Phase 2 is in Motion: We're Building Hope

From emergency relief to building. From tents to homes.

This week, GAiN PH begins laying the foundation for our housing project for the earthquake victims in Mindanao. Families who lost everything are now watching their futures being rebuilt—brick by brick, foundation by foundation.

This is what long-term recovery means, and it's happening because of supporters like you. Thank you for partnering with us. Stay tuned for more updates!

And it's a wrap! 🎉

This morning, 25 people gathered for "Faith Meets Justice: Hope and Compassion in Action"—and it was powerful.

GAiN PH CEO, Rod Santos, delivered a session that connected faith directly to action. What really resonated with attendees was how he highlighted key Bible passages about justice and serving different groups in need—showing that caring for the poor, the marginalized, and the vulnerable isn't just something we should do, it's something we're CALLED to do.

Thank you to everyone who showed up ready to engage, ready to question, and ready to act. This is what it looks like when faith meets justice. đź’›

Hope and Healing around Glan and Jose Abad Santos: Earthquake Response Update

Earlier this morning, we traveled to some of the most severely affected areas—Glan and Jose Abad Santos. What we found is heartbreaking: entire communities destroyed, families sleeping outside in tents because they're terrified of the constant aftershocks and possibility of another earthquake. We immediately distributed food, water, solar lights, tents, and water filters, teaching families how to use them. But the physical needs are just the beginning.

When we asked the families what they need the most, the answer was consistent and clear. Along with the need for food and water, they also need trauma counseling. Fishermen won't go to sea anymore—they're paralyzed by fear of tsunamis. People have moved uphill, away from their livelihoods. Schools are closed indefinitely. Businesses aren't operating. There's no way for families to sustain themselves. Infrastructure is devastated—roads are blocked, waterways are stagnant, and clean water is nearly impossible to access.

We also discovered communities in the mountains—places where indigenous families haven't eaten in days. While government assistance has reached some communities there, after providing initial relief goods, they prioritize areas with residents who are voters and have government IDs.

The situation, however, is not without hope. As Pastor Boy from the Blaan indigenous people group, whose church building was damaged, said: "We want to keep a positive attitude. We know God can work things out for good. We are hoping something good will come out of this." And that's what we carry with us forward.

These communities need sustained support, not just emergency aid. They need trauma counseling, livelihood recovery, and hope. They need peopel like you to help them.

Update from the Ground: Our Response to the 7.8 Earthquake Continues

Today, we coordinated and did some precautionary planning with local partners in preparation for our visit to some of the hard-hit communities in the coming days. We also connected with community leaders and volunteer networks that we're hoping to partner with as we help with rebuilding. And we visited evacuation centers to assess needs and provide support.

The reality is this: Families are still displaced. Communities are still in shock. Mindanao still needs emergency relief, medical care, and hope right now.

Together, let's bring hope to these communities in crisis.

Today, our team met with fellow responders at the local command center to gather and exchange information as we prepare for the first phase of the calamity response. We identified the hardest-hit communities, assessing their most urgent needs, and evaluating safety considerations such as road access and ongoing aftershocks.

We have also begun purchasing initial relief supplies for distribution in the coming days. During these preparations, we experienced a magnitude 6.6 aftershock and had to evacuate the building. Everyone on our team is safe.

Thank you for your continued support. We will share further updates as the relief operation progresses.
