[FILM STILL: FIGHT CLUB]
"The first rule about fight club, is you do not talk about fight club."
In the month of October, the Mental Health Awareness month in the Philippines, we break that rule—because this time, it's okay to talk about the battles that not everyone sees; and do not fret to openly share your feelings with other people you are most comfortable with.
Fight Club (1999) is a classic movie by David Fincher where the main lead, played by Edward Norton, is a depressed man suffering from insomnia and an identity crisis. It's a film that tackles mental health, consumerism, and the search for meaning in a disconnected world. Beneath its chaos and violence lies a deeper commentary on the silent struggles many face—a reminder that acknowledging our pain is the first step toward healing.
