World Humanitarian Day 2026 | Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities
This World Humanitarian Day, we recognize the courage and commitment of humanitarian workers, local responders, and communities who continue to protect and support people affected by crises.
“Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities” reminds us that humanitarian action is strongest when communities are empowered to lead, respond, and protect one another. Local responders are often at the forefront of crises, carrying the greatest responsibility in providing support and protection to those in need.
As we stand in solidarity with humanitarian and aid workers, we also call for the protection of civilians, respect for international humanitarian law, and accountability for violations. Those who protect humanity must also be protected.
For children, solidarity begins with creating safe environments at school, at home, and in their communities. Every child has the right to be protected from violence, abuse, exploitation, and neglect, especially during times of crisis.
Let us strengthen local communities, support those on the frontlines, and work together to ensure that every child is safe, every community is empowered, and no one is left behind.
This World Humanitarian Day, let solidarity become action. Let communities lead. Let us protect those who protect humanity.
