[SIGMA RHOANS DISTINGUISH THEMSELVES IN THE MAGALLONA CUP 2026: Excellence in Moot Court Competition]

The UP Sigma Rho Fraternity proudly congratulates Ferdie Manahan ’21, Day Angeles ’24, and Joey Florendo ’24 for their achievements in the Merlin M. Magallona Cup 2026, organized by the UP Law Debate and Moot Court Union.

Ferdie Manahan ’21 and Joey Florendo ’24, competing as teammates, emerged as Grand Finalists in the competition. Ferdie Manahan ’21 was also recognized as the 7th Best Oralist of the Preliminary Round, while Joey Florendo ’24 was named the 4th Best Oralist of the Preliminary Round. Meanwhile, Day Angeles ’24’s team received both the Best Memorial for Respondent and Best Memorial for Petitioner awards. Their performances reflect strong analytical skills, legal writing, and preparation in one of UP Law’s premier moot court competitions.

Their achievements reflect the Sigma Rhoan commitment to excellence in legal scholarship and competitive mooting. Through competitions such as the Magallona Cup, Sigma Rhoans continue to uphold the Fraternity’s tradition of distinction in the field of law and legal education.

The UP Sigma Rho Fraternity proudly congratulates Mark Joven ’01 GA ’04 on his election as a Member of the Board of Directors of Security Bank Corporation, following the bank’s annual stockholders’ meeting on April 28, 2026.

A former Undersecretary of the Department of Finance, Mark Joven ’01 GA ’04 brings with him extensive experience in public finance and international development. He previously represented the Philippines on the boards of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage, contributing to key initiatives in infrastructure and climate finance.

[SIGMA RHOAN IN THE JESSUP INTERNATIONAL ROUNDS: UP Law Advances to the Global Stage]

The UP Sigma Rho Fraternity proudly congratulates Bart Cauilan ’18 and the UP Law Jessup Team for breaking to the Advanced Rounds of the 2026 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, held in Washington, D.C., USA. Bart Cauilan ’18 is a member of this year’s UP Law Jessup Team.

The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world’s largest moot court competition, hosting over 800 teams from law schools around the globe. The competition simulates disputes in public international law before the International Court of Justice through written memorials and oral arguments. The team further distinguished itself at the International Rounds, placing 19th in the Alona E. Evans Award for Best Team Memorials out of more than 150 submissions.

Bart Cauilan ’18’s participation in this achievement reflects the Fraternity’s continued commitment to legal scholarship and advocacy. His work contributes to the presence of Filipino law students in international legal forums and upholds the tradition of excellence in the study and practice of law.

[SIGMA RHOAN LAUNCHES MEMOIR AT MALCOLM HALL: A Chronicle of Principle, Service, and Statesmanship]

The UP Sigma Rho Fraternity proudly congratulates Franklin Drilon '66 on the successful launch of his memoir, "Being Frank: A Memoir," held at Malcolm Theater, UP Diliman, Quezon City. The event brought together fellow lawyers, public servants, faculty, students, and the broader UP community to honor a life of distinguished service to the Filipino people.

Elected Senate President four times and having served alongside six Presidents of the Republic, Franklin Drilon '66 offered candid reflections on governance, accountability, and the responsibilities of public office. At the launch, he spoke with characteristic directness on the importance of executive accountability, the integrity of the budget process, and the enduring power of the rule of law, reminding those present that decades in public service are best measured not by position held, but by fidelity to principle.

Through "Being Frank," Franklin Drilon '66 leaves more than a personal memoir, he leaves a standard of leadership for future generations of lawyers and public servants. Attention partygoers: Law and Disorder 2026 is just around the corner!

Heads up, party people! Before you hit the dance floor, check out these important guidelines for a smooth and unforgettable night.

1. This event is strictly for guests 18 years old and above. A valid ID is required for age verification upon entry.

2. Parking is limited. Nearby parking slots are available, but we encourage carpooling or ride-sharing for convenience.

3. Re-entry is allowed but not guaranteed. Venue capacity will be prioritized for pre-registered guests.

4. Smoking is only permitted in designated areas. Please follow venue regulations.

5. Sharp or pointed objects are strictly prohibited. Security checks will be conducted before entry.

6. Unruly behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone causing disturbances will be escorted out, and any damages caused will be at the guest’s expense.

7. Wristbands will be issued upon entry. Wristbands must be worn on the right hand to order drinks and for re-entry privileges.

8. Outside food and drinks will be subject to corkage fees.

9. Security checks will be in place. Bringing large bags or bulky items is discouraged.

10. Illegal drugs are strictly prohibited. Violators will be dealt with accordingly.

Follow these guidelines and get ready for an incredible night of unlimited drinks, electrifying music, and great company at Law and Disorder 2026!
