: 38 organisations across the world stand in solidarity with Pranab Doley and Indigenous defenders in Assam, and call for the withdrawal of the National Security Act (NSA) detention order and the immediate release of Pranab Doley, as well as the withdrawal of the criminal charges filed against peaceful protesters and Indigenous human rights defenders in Kaziranga.

The letter also calls on companies and investors linked to the luxury resort project at Inglay Pathar at Hathkuli in Assam to immediately suspend financing for Juniper Hotels Ltd. and engage with the company.

IP YASS: Indigenous Youth in Action!

Under AYIPN’s Indigenous Lands in Indigenous Hands (ILIH) campaign is IP YASS — Indigenous Peoples Youth Actions for Strengthening & Solidarity, an initiative that highlights how Indigenous youth are organizing, learning, and taking action to protect their territories and strengthen Indigenous communities across Asia.

As we celebrate the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples and International Youth Day, we continue bringing you stories from the ground. Next is the story of Darsen Saputra, an Indigenous youth from Indonesia and part of the Barisan Pemuda Adat Nusantara.

Listen to Darsen as he shares how Indigenous youth take part in participatory mapping of Indigenous territories—working alongside elders and communities to trace territorial boundaries, gather coordinates, document local traditions, and preserve knowledge passed down through generations.

🚨 IPRI condemns coercive land acquisition practices affecting Indigenous Newa communities in

📍Indigenous Peoples Rights International (IPRI) expresses deep concern over land expropriation measures for the Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhesh Fast Track affecting the Indigenous Newa communities of Khokana and Bungamati without their Free, Prior and Informed Consent ( ).

❗The project would affect around 15,000 people and cross ancestral lands, agricultural areas, ritual routes, and sacred sites.

➡️On June 18, 2026, the Government warned that forced land expropriation would proceed if residents did not accept compensation. Residents later filed a petition before Nepal’s Supreme Court to protect their rights.

📢 IPRI calls on the Government of Nepal to suspend land expropriation, avoid pressure or intimidation, guarantee Free, Prior and Informed Consent, consider alternative routes, and protect Newa ancestral lands, cultural heritage, and livelihoods.

✋🏾The situation in Khokana and Bungamati shows that infrastructure development must respect Indigenous Peoples’ rights, territories, and future.
