Last September 15, 2026, youth, parents, and teachers gathered via Zoom for another meaningful session titled โRead, Think, Lead: Increasing Reading Comprehension and Critical Thinking.โ ๐๐กโจ
The webinar featured Ms. Whiazel C. Nangpi, OIC-Advocacy Unit Head at NATCCO Network, who shared valuable insights on mastering reading comprehension, cultivating critical thinking skills, and navigating information overload in a fast-changing world.
The discussion emphasized a structured 3-phase reading strategy: setting intent and scanning text during the blueprint phase before reading, interrogating logic leaps and active dialogue during reading, and conducting a critical audit through brain dumps and teach-back methods after reading. Participants were encouraged to adopt a long-term cognitive roadmap by protecting a 20-minute daily focus block without tabs or alerts, rotating diverse long-form texts, and regularly synthesizing concepts from memory.
One of the key takeaways from the webinar was that deep reading is a trained discipline that begins with active engagement, curiosity, and structured reflection. Through hands-on workshop examples and argument deconstruction, the session inspired young people to look beyond raw claims, challenge flawed assumptions, and evaluate evidence with rigor.
The webinar concluded with participants gaining a deeper appreciation of analytical thinking, intellectual discipline, and informed decision-making. The session empowered young individuals to protect their focus, think clearly, and actively lead in an increasingly complex digital world. ๐
