Last June 8, 2026, youth leaders, students, cooperative members, and young professionals gathered via Zoom for an engaging session on Artificial Intelligence and its growing impact on how we consume and share information online.
Led by our resource speaker, Mr. Paolo Ordonio, Program Manager of the Out of the Box Media Literacy Initiative, the National Coordinator of the UGNAYAN Philippine MIL Coalition, and the Executive Director of the Break The Fake Movement, the discussion explored both the opportunities and challenges brought by AI. Participants actively shared their insights and experiences, making the dialogue lively and meaningful. One key takeaway from the session was that AI is a powerful tool that can help us learn, create, and become more productiveβbut it can also become a disadvantage if we rely on it blindly or fail to use it responsibly.
To help participants navigate today's digital landscape, Mr. Ordonio introduced the SIFT Method: Stop, Investigate, Find, and Traceβa practical approach to fact-checking and verifying information before believing or sharing it. As AI continues to shape our future, the session reminded everyone that critical thinking, responsible media consumption, and informed decision-making remain essential skills for every young digital citizen.
May this learning inspire us to become not only smarter users of technology, but also more responsible, discerning, and empowered leaders in our communities.
