In partnership with the Institute for Studies on Diabetes Foundation, Inc. (ISDFI), the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI) conducted a free chest X-ray screening for 145 individuals, 15 years old and above, during the Diabetes Congress. This activity, in celebration of the 35th founding anniversary of ISDFI, was conducted at Assumption School, Sumulong Highway, Antipolo City, Rizal on January 4, 2025.

Those suggestive of TB on their initial results submitted their sputum samples for free diagnostics after the health education provided to them. X-ray results and sputum exam results were endorsed to the club advisers for the referral to their facility of choice.

On December 10, 2024, a total of 127 individuals including healthcare workers, other hospital personnel and visitors from St. Camillus Medical Center, Pasig City were screened for free using the chest x-ray.🏥 The initial results helped to capture those suggestive of TB to collect sputum samples on-site for free diagnostic purposes. Patients who were diagnosed with TB were provided with free consultation and treatment in PTSI-Quezon Institute. 👨‍⚕️

As part of the activity, the Chief of the Community Health Program Section also imparted her knowledge on TB during the Lay Forum. It was emphasized that TB is a curable disease and should not be stigmatized. 📝

Healthcare workers are at higher risk of having TB, but with proper precautions and protocols, the risk can be significantly reduced. Regular TB screening is also needed for early detection and prompt initiation of treatment, making the workplace a healthier environment. 🩻

The Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI) participates in the ItoDOH Na! Medical Mission led by the Secretary of Health, Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, at Cabuyao Athletes Basic School Multi Sports Hall in Cabuyao, Laguna on December 7, 2024. 🩺 This activity provided free health services that include medical consultation, dental services, chest X-ray screening, laboratory services and many more. 👏

Using the chest x-ray, a total of 109 individuals were screened. Those with findings suggestive of TB (presumptive TB) were referred to the Cabuyao City Health Office for diagnostics and TB services ensuring everyone screened will be monitored in the whole cascade of care. ✨

Taking proactive steps toward a healthier Philippines!

On November 26 and 28, 2024, the Philippine Tuberculosis Society, Inc. (PTSI) conducted an Active Case Finding initiative at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), screening 223 service users and employees for lung health 🩺🩻.

This initiative is a vital part of our mission to promote early detection, raise awareness, and ensure access to treatment for all. As the saying goes, “A breath of healthy air is a step toward a brighter tomorrow”.🌟

The Community Health Program Team of the Philippine Tuberculosis Society Inc. (PTSI) continues its collaboration with the Quezon City Social Services Development Department (SSDD) and District Offices to reach the vulnerable groups in Metro Manila. One hundred sixteen (116) individuals, consisting of senior citizens, government employees and students, were provided with free chest X-ray screening. This activity was conducted in Novaliches District Center in Quezon City on October 16, 2024. Participants also received health education prior to their registration and X-ray screening. Those with X-ray findings suggestive of tuberculosis (TB) will be linked to the free diagnostics, consultation and TB treatment of the PTSI-Quezon Institute.

This is going to be a month-long event for our Senior Citizens in every district of QC. This would provide our Senior Citizens an opportunity to safeguard their lung health through free chest X-ray screening and where necessary, essential TB care. Early detection is the key.
