Atty. Krizza Mae Keaje Barabat, MEAL Lead of Kristiyano-Islam Peace Library Inc. (KRIS), was selected to join the ASEAN-Australia Centre’s Emerging Leaders Program on Climate-Smart Agriculture and Food Systems, hosted by the University of Queensland in Australia. 🦘🇦🇺

During the two-week program in Australia, Atty. Krizza brought with her stories from the ground, highlighting KRIS-supported seed grant projects and community-driven initiatives that promote resilience, sustainability, and peacebuilding.

Her participation not only reflects her leadership but also amplifies the work of KRIS in empowering communities. By sharing these initiatives on an international platform, KRIS continues to contribute to meaningful conversations on sustainable development and climate action across the ASEAN region.

From community roots to global conversations, this is how local peacebuilding creates wider impact. 💚🌱

THIS WEEK: Discussing peace & youth leadership with friends from Norway 🇳🇴 and gathering from Zamboanga City 🕊

We recently had the pleasure of conversing with His Excellency Christian Halaas Lyster, Ambassador of Norway to the Philippines, on youth perspectives on peacebuilding and development in Mindanao. Joining the Ambassador were Deputy Head of Mission Geir Michalsen and Senior Advisor Nikki Delfin plus Champions for Peace (CfP) and graduate Jhiro Cruzat.

Our meeting was made even more meaningful by the fact that we echoed inputs from our youth champions from the city - a very special place where we held our CfP pilot for 100 Filipino youth last year - who caught up with us over dinner 🍕

Here's to building and sustaining more partnerships and friendships for youth-led action in peace 💪

Meet Bea Adam Abdul, an educator and MEAL practitioner whose journey continues to grow through peacebuilding and community engagement. From grassroots tutoring to supporting data-driven development work, Bea brings both heart and purpose into everything she does.

Through the recent Youth Peacebuilding Facilitation Lab, Bea deepened her understanding of inclusive leadership and strengthened her commitment to empowering marginalized voices grounded in Nonviolent Communication and restorative practices.

As part of the KRIS for Peace team, Bea continues to contribute to building meaningful, evidence-based impact in communities.
