All the way from the modest town in Pangasinan, which was named after an inactive volcano, Balungao, came a fiery messenger for the opening day of the National Youth Convention.
Pastor Joseph Evidor, the first speaker, came not with ashes, but with the truth of Godโs Word declared in Isaiah 6:8:
"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."
A deafening pause swept over God's young people when the pastor challenged the youth to be willing vessels for God's purpose; a realization was ignited among the youth: being a Christian requires initiative, involvement, and dedication to the advancement of His kingdom.
He warned, like a rumble beneath dormant soil, โYou cannot call yourself a Christian if you don't involve and dedicate yourself to serving God.โ These words were uttered not just as a sermon or a mantra but a wake-up callโan eruption of truth long dormant in many hearts.
Pastor Evidor spoke not just as a preacher, but as living proof. โThereโs no change in our life when we donโt experience the glory of God,โ he testified. Like lava that reshapes the land it flows over, the glory of God, once experienced, transforms everything it touches.
As the convention continues, the fire lit by that first eruption burns onโstirring a generation ready to say, โHere am I, Lord, send me.โ
