A Mother Who Grows: Reimagining Resilience through Food Security in Busuanga, Northern Palawan

"There is an instinct in many to provide, almost without thought. As the child forms, she sustains; in birth, she nourishes. As she gets older, provision transforms. We feel it in words, in warmth, in the sense of home. Days do not start or end for mothers like até Rosalie Gabinéte. It is a role that just goes on for a homemaker and a mother of six from Barangay San Rafael in the municipality of Busuanga in the Calamian Group of Islands, Northern Palawan. Growth for até Rosalie is understood in its most literal sense. Planting came naturally to her: vegetables, cassava, bananas, and whatever else she could grow."

The 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗙𝗣𝗘) is pleased to announce the appointment of 𝗗𝗿. 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝗲 𝗖. 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗮 as its 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, effective 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

Dr. Tesalona previously served as 𝗙𝗣𝗘’𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 and has been leading the organization as 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, providing steady leadership and ensuring the continuity of the Foundation’s programs and partnerships during this transition.

With her extensive experience in biodiversity conservation, environmental governance, and sustainable development, Dr. Tesalona brings both strategic vision and deep institutional knowledge to FPE’s work in empowering communities and protecting the Philippines’ rich natural heritage.
