Three years after having been ordained priest in May 31, 1959, Father Gabriel Calvo designed the “Encuentro Conjugal” in 1962 and had the first seminar for 28 couples from the workers of factories in Spain. Crossing borders of land and language, “Encuentro Conjugal” became “Marriage Encounter” when it was brought to the United States in 1966. Isang Bagsakan, Anim Agad
(Making the Impossible Possible)
Isinulat nila Bro. RG and Sis. Myrtle Gallardo, AZ-PAGLILINGKOD (AZP) CLASS 29

“Paano gagawin ng AZP ‘yan?”
That was the first thought that came to our minds noong narinig naming mag-asawa about the planned mass wedding.
At that time, in the early months of 2025, we were excited kasi yung ME classmates namin na sila Roel and Janice ay magpapakasal—kukunin pa ngang ninang at ninong ang classmates din naming sila Tito June and Tita Imee.
When we found out na hindi na itutuloy, napag-usapan naming mag-asawa: “Baka kasi mahirap.”
Between the two of us, we had many experiences in weddings, both professionally and personally—alam namin madugong-madugo po ang wedding events.
Madalas naming na experience mag asawa as hmua or photographer ang umiiyak na bride dahil sobrang stressed, or umiinit ang ulo, or both—normally in private while the hmua is doing the bride’s makeup.
Ang usual na bongga na wedding ay: ONE makeup artist, and one hairstylist for ONE bride, plus two or three more hmua and additional two or three more assistants and hairstylists for the entourage. Bakit solo ang makeup artist ng bride? Kasi ang makeup artist ay tumatayo ring counselor o nagpapakalma at nagbi-build up ng confidence sa bride (unspoken duty and role ’yan ng seasoned wedding organizer, hmua or photographer); madalas yung makeup session lang ang time ng bride para sa sarili niya.
Napakalaki ng responsibilidad ng wedding organizer, makeup artist, at photographer. Itong tatlo ang laging nagkakaroon ng conflict on the day itself sa isang event na tulad nito.
Anyway, what I really wanted to share is the enormity of stress and responsibility that an organizer and staff have to bear to undergo such an event for one couple, let alone six! It’s such a very tall order for any wedding organizer and staff to pull it off. And I’m sure walang wedding planner worth their salt na tatanggap ng ganyang gig for less than half a million pag six couples ang ikakasal—kukuha kasi ng maraming staff talaga yan.

What I want to posit is that AZP did the impossible! For Myrtle and me, there’s no such thing as a perfect wedding—parating may confusion, may frustration, may drama sa likod ng isang magandang wedding.
Many of our committee members served humbly, quietly, and diligently behind the scenes without expecting any recognition or reward—mapa bata man, like our sweet Apa (Maestro and Weng’s daughter) o mga lola—lahat nag-contribute, maliit man o malaki.
“Myrtle and I think AZP made the impossible possible,” sabi ko kay brother Armand and sister Almira on the way home; wala kasing well-established na wedding event crew ang tatanggap ng ganyan kalaking gig with a small budget.
Myrtle and I wanted to congratulate everyone, not just for doing a great job, but for accomplishing something beautiful. Ang ating Mass Wedding was aesthetically beautiful and, importantly, solemn, intimate, and spiritually enriching. The community touched not just six couples’ lives, but also the lives of six entire families. That’s SIX families that AZP brought closer to God—no amount of money can replace that kind of fulfillment.
Kaya napakaganda at gwapo din ng ating mga couple during the wedding; AZP took a huge chunk of obstacles in the couples’ lives.
Our message to the newlyweds: in ordinary weddings, kapag nakapagbayad ka na sa wedding organizers “thanks and goodbye” na ’yon; sa AZP community, nandiyan ’yan nakaantabay habang buhay—handang tumulong.
Thank you, Lord, for this miracle! Thank you for sending people who were willing to help. Thank you for bringing these families together!
And again, congratulations, Team AZP mass wedding working committee! My wife and I are sure that God will bless you and accept with gladness all your sacrifices and offerings. We can imagine God smiling down on you all, like how Father Agot couldn’t stop smiling.
Be glad! The fruits of your labors are plenty.
Praise be Jesus and Mary!

With respect and admiration,
RG and Myrtle

Tuklasan Party?! Ano, me ATTIRE pa? What's ROYALTY attire?! Malaking GASTOS LANG YAN!!

Bro and Sis of Tuklasan, KALMA LANG!
HINDI KA GAGASTOS ng malaki sa ATTIRE...IF... you can DIY .. or creatively accessorize your EXISTING WARDROBE. There are many creative ways to suit up or dress up to the ROYALTY fashion sense!

Pwede naman: for ladies, if you have cocktail dress or simple formal and semi-formal outfit, accesorize it with fashion jewelries (not actual jewels) like faux pearls and faux gliterry stones. For gentlemen, a simple jacket or coat, or long sleeves will do, just don your most "WAGI" smile that captured the missus!

Kung wala talaga, use shopee for instance, or Lazada and Temu, or maghalungkat sa lumang baul! Find the right accessories to complement your attire! See pictures please...

Better yet, just come in your most Regal poise, wear your imaginary CROWN with your head held up high but not too high, baka malaglag ang crown, nor to stoop your head too low, mala-laglag pa din ang crown!

Wear your CROWN like a true Royalty because we are proud children of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! As we proclaim: "One Lord, One Faith One Baptism!" (Ephesians 4:5)

See you all on the 28th of June, 5pm at the Camelot Hotel, Mother Ignacia Street Q.C

Remember, this is not just for us, but a Thanksgiving to the Lord for the immense blessings He showered upon us for the past 45 years!! Your MALETA of miracles is waiting for you!

Let us ALL celebrate 45 years of Tuklasan, because despite all the challenges around: in marital relationship, family life, economic, political, and the country in general- we are ALL still here, in GOD'S LOVING EMBRACE, and able to serve Him thru our family life apostolate ! Also, we believe that it will please the Lord if we celebrate, because all throughout the Bible, the Lord always reminds us to get together and to tell people, of the LORD'S love and wonderful works!
"Let us give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind"- Psalm 107:8

Our 45th Tuklasan Anniversary celebration is also an opportunity for us as Encountered Couples and Families to make meaningful and creative connections with Tuklasan's history.
It is a time to learn more about Fr. Jess and the people who founded and led the foundation, and about the events that have shaped our Tuklasan unique personality.
United as one Family in Christ, we all proclaim:
"ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM"! Ephesians 4:5

So as CHILDREN OF GOD, we are ALL CHILDREN OF ROYALTY, hence let us play the part, and come and celebrate in our most Regal and Royal attires!
