Alex Eala is the Mubadala DC Open 2026 Champion.

Her journey is a reminder that world-class performance begins with world-class systems — the coaching, sports science, and institutional support that turn raw talent into trophies on the biggest stages.

Her win also signals a shift. Filipino athletes are no longer just local heroes — they are global brands, capable of inspiring millions, attracting sponsors, growing fan engagement, and creating new commercial opportunities for Philippine sport.

Success on the international stage strengthens the value proposition for brands, media, and investors to support athletes and sports programs. This is the flywheel Philippine sport needs — and Alex just showed the world what it looks like in motion.

Congratulations, Alex Eala!

🔥 76 YEARS OF EQUITY IN ACTION 🔥
It is with great pride and gratitude that we announce the official release of three landmark publications from the 20th IAPESGW World Congress, held in Cebu City, Philippines! 🇵🇭

This release is the result of close collaboration by the International Association of Physical Education and Sport for Girls and Women (IAPESGW), organized locally by Sportphil with the support of the University of the Philippines Cebu and the Philippine Sports Commission.

📖 What's inside the release:
1️⃣ The IAPESGW Cebu Declaration (2025) — a powerful statement of resilience, solidarity, and renewed purpose from delegates around the world.
2️⃣ The Book of Abstracts (ISBN-registered) — showcasing the depth of global scholarship, practice, and advocacy shared at the Congress.
3️⃣ A Special Issue on Gender in the Scopus-indexed journal International Sports Studies — strengthening the international discourse on gender equity in sport.
Together, these publications carry forward IAPESGW's 76-year legacy of advancing opportunities, leadership, and research for girls and women in sport and physical education — proof that equity in action continues, year after year. 💪🏽🏐🏋🏽‍♀️

PSC eyes a first for Philippine sports — a Sports University under UP!

PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio has unveiled a bold vision: the country's first Sports University under the University of the Philippines system, built to develop not just champions, but the coaches, scientists, educators, and administrators who make champions possible.

Modeled after global powerhouses like Germany's Sport University Cologne, Beijing Sport University, and neighbors Thailand and Vietnam — this could be a turning point for Philippine sports as an industry of pride, education, and enterprise. 🇵🇭🏆

"Gawin mong masaya ang atleta, magtatagumpay ang mga Pilipino." — Chairman Gregorio
