Senior Discounts Valid Even Without Senior ID, Law Says
Senior citizens do not need to present a Senior Citizen ID to avail of discounts, as long as they can show any valid government-issued ID proving they are 60 years old or above.
Accepted IDs include a driver’s license, passport, PhilHealth ID, UMID, postal ID, national ID, and other government-issued IDs that clearly indicate the holder’s date of birth. Under the Expanded Senior Citizens Act or RA 9994, all businesses are required to honor senior discounts once age is verified. Refusal to grant the benefit may result in legal penalties.
Protecting and respecting the rights of senior citizens remains a shared responsibility.
