Today, we celebrate our wetlands. The home to rich biodiversity, protector of communities, and a vital source of livelihood.

With the theme “𝑾𝒆𝒕𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒍𝒆𝒅𝒈𝒆: 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆,” this year’s celebration honors the Indigenous knowledge and practices that have sustained and protected our wetlands since the time of our ancestors. Let us remember the wisdom imparted to us and use it as a tool towards environmental stewardship. 🌎🌱

𝐈𝐭 𝗶𝘀 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵!

Twenty-five years after the enactment of Republic Act (RA) No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, the country is still facing challenges on Solid Waste Management.

This January, PCEPSDI joins the celebration of 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 with the theme "Honoring our past, Renewing our commitments, and Innovating for a cleaner tomorrow". We urge everyone to walk sustainably and reduce their waste to zero.

Here are some simple tips that we can do to contribute in a cleaner world:

The Green Choice Philippines (GCP) officially launches the Ecolabelling Criteria for Steel Products — a major milestone towards promoting sustainability and responsible production in the steel sector.

The project was implemented by Phil.Center for Environmental Protection and Sus. Devt.,Inc through the EcoAdvance Project, a collaborative effort between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), GIZ, and Öko-Institut, receiving financial support from the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI).

Developed through close collaboration with experts, manufacturers, government agencies, and stakeholders, the new criteria ensure that steel products meet standards of quality, safety, and sustainability — aligning with both national regulations and global sustainability goals.

The criteria apply to:
- Flat Steel Products (Roofing)
- Long Steel Products (Rebars and Equal Leg Angle)
- Steel Pipes (BI and GI)
- Structural Shapes (H-Beam, I-Beam, W-Flange, Sheet Piles, Steel Plates)
- Low Relaxation Seven-Wire Steel Strand Prestressed Concrete

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 include requirements on 𝘳𝘢𝘸 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴, and 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘴, ensuring that certified products contribute to a more sustainable construction industry.
