Bokashi Pinoy Composting

Bokashi Pinoy Composting Bokashi Pinoy is a social enterprise that focuses on turning food waste into nutrient-rich soil. Our mission is to save the environment one bucket at a time!

It facilitates a program called the “30-day Garbage to Garden” challenge. It facilitates a program called the “30-day Garbage to Garden” challenge to train individuals, organized communities, or businesses who want to reduce their food waste for a greater purpose. It is called a challenge instead of just a “program” as it is calling for deliberate series of actions towards establishing a daily rou

tine. Our vision is to divert food waste away from landfills instead use it to regenerate farmlands towards food sustainability. For the past 2 years, the Bokashi Pinoy Movement has been raising awareness on those 2 persistent issues through public speaking, seminars, workshops, and social media to ask for public opinions regarding our role in the implementation of these laws in our own households and our communities. However, we realized that the level of awareness of the public is almost at level zero. Since the Enhanced Community Quarantine, we have realized that our current strength is in raising awareness and educating the public. It is more than just selling a Bokashi Starter kit, it’s also about spreading the message – the issue at hand and the possibilities if we have a shared vision shared goals and objectives as well as shared experiences to make it more FUN and less taxing. We are all social beings anyway – so if swimming against the tide is one of the things you find yourself in – chances are you belong to our TRIBE. Advocacy not Activism drives accountability. It is the one that creates lasting changes. Advocacy is the voice inside your head that says – “change begins with me”. Come and join us! We are better together!

Your food scraps don't belong in the trash, they're future soil!

Bokashi Pinoy ipa is a Filipino-made composting mix that ferments your leftovers (yes, even cooked food 👀) into nutrient-rich fertilizer in just ~30 days.

Made from rice hulls, beneficial microbes, and molasses, it's a simple switch that reduces waste and supports local farmers. 🌱♻️

So next time you're about to throw food away.. maybe you're actually throwing away soil. 🤔

📣 Leadership Update

Bokashi Pinoy is pleased to share a leadership update and formally recognize key members of our growing team.

We are happy to announce Zarah Alexis Francisco as General Manager and Researcher.

Zarah has been managing the day-to-day operations of Bokashi Pinoy since May 2025, supporting operational coordination, supplier engagement, and business continuity. Throughout this transition period, she has worked closely with Lanie Francisco in a coaching and mentorship capacity, enabling a gradual, structured, and learning-oriented handover of responsibilities.

Alongside her operational role, Zarah contributes to applied, exploratory research at the intersection of natural fermentation processes, microbiology, and skin health, with a focus on responsible, non-clinical learning applications aligned with sustainability and circular economy principles. She is currently a freshman Medical Biology student at De La Salle University, and her academic training informs her curiosity-driven and research-led approach.

Following this period of hands-on learning and supported transition, Zarah is now fully prepared to continue leading Bokashi Pinoy’s daily operations as General Manager and Researcher, with clarity, humility, and a strong commitment to growth.

We also wish to recognize Paula Escote, who continues her role as Part-Time Sales Officer. Paula has been with Bokashi Pinoy since its early beginnings, providing steady support in sales and customer engagement and contributing meaningfully to the organization’s growth journey.

This update reflects a deliberate, mentored, and team-centered transition, grounded in continuity, learning, and long-term sustainability.

2025 new beginnings after a year of reflection in 2024!

🌟 As I reflect on the past 8 years since returning to the Philippines with a heart to give back to my home country, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible support from my advocacy partners and all of you who have embraced our mission 🙏. The first 6 years were a blur of success, as I was blessed by hundreds of you who believed in our cause, allowing me to sustain not just my family but also our advocacy.

But in looking back, I realize my mistake—I made the advocacy my idol 💔. In my pursuit, I forgot to depend fully on God. And sometimes, God has to remove what we love most to bring us closer to Him ✝️. That was my journey, realigning my heart and priorities.

The last 2 years were a time of reflection. As my influence grew, so did my pride and self-centeredness. I lost sight of the true mission and began what they call "mission drift," until I hit rock bottom last year. But in that moment, God brought me back to what truly matters 🙏.

So, what’s new in 2025? 🙌

Jeremiah 29:7 reminds us:
"Also seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." (NIV) 🌿

In this verse, God encourages us to pray for the welfare of our communities—even in tough times. When our city thrives, we too are blessed. 🌍 Through prayer and faith, we trust that God has a purpose for where we are, and prosperity and peace will follow.

From 2025 onwards, Bokashi Pinoy is committed to aligning our business with the Great Commission—empowering communities to steward God’s creation and spread His love through sustainable practices and environmental care. 🌱🌍 We believe that by caring for the earth, we can build stronger, more connected communities while sharing the message of hope and restoration found in Christ. Let’s continue this journey together, supporting each other in fulfilling God’s mission on earth. 🙏✨
