is a non-stock, not-for-profit organization that was organized in 1988 with then Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Renato de Villa, who called on the business community to respond to the growing needs of the families our “heroes” have left behind. HERO stands for Help, Educate, and Rear Orphans. Since then, the foundation has been providing educational support to military orphans. The financial support helps keep orphans in school as it covers much needed requirements such as school supplies, transportation, meals and even a portion of their tuition fee. Today, the foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees whose members are likewise, active business leaders who believe in HERO’s advocacy. For 37 years now, the foundation has not wavered in its commitment to provide educational support to the children of our soldiers and ensure that they have a better chance at a brighter future. To date, a total of 2,777 scholars have received the blessings given by HERO Foundation, Inc. 1,273 of these scholars have graduated from College. Of these graduates, some are engineers, nurses, doctors, flight attendants, policemen, soldiers and more. With our current active scholars of 232, we hope to have more graduates who can stand on their own and help their families earn a living. The HERO FOUNDATION INCORPORATED held its Annual Board Meeting on July 23, 2026, led by Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala and attended by the Foundation's distinguished Board of Trustees.

The meeting reaffirmed the Board's unwavering commitment to expanding educational opportunities for military orphans and ensuring the long term sustainability of the Foundation.

Since its establishment in 1988, HERO Foundation has supported 2,777 military orphans, with 1,292 scholars successfully earning their college degrees. For School Year 2026–2027, the Foundation will provide educational assistance to 226 military orphan scholars, continuing its legacy of transforming lives through access to quality education.

Congratulations to Christine Dane O. Gestiada. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from University of Saint Louis Tuguegarao in Tuguegarao, Cagayan.

She is the daughter of Sgt. Antonio H. Gestiada, PA, who was killed in action on Boliney, Abra last May 16, 2007.
