A new opportunity for girls to take up space, build confidence, and thrive through sports is coming soon. 💜✨

SPARK! Philippines and Monfort Foundation Incorporated formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for — Field for Inclusivity, Empowerment, Learning, and Development.

Through a sports camp, will introduce public school girls and young women under 18 to various ball sports while creating opportunities to develop confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and awareness of their rights.

More than getting girls on the field, the initiative aims to create a supportive space where they can discover their potential, challenge barriers to participation in sports, and carry that confidence with them both on and off the field.

SPARK! Philippines had the honor of meeting Her Excellency BN Radebe-Netsh*tenzhe, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to the Philippines, and Ms. Chantelle Naidoo to explore opportunities for collaboration.

Our conversation focused on potential partnerships and programmatic initiatives that support the empowerment and well-being of women and girls, including initiatives related to period empowerment, girls’ education, and support for women Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with the South African Embassy and discuss areas where our organizations can work together toward meaningful and inclusive programs that respond to the needs of women and girls.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring opportunities to build initiatives that empower women and girls, support women PDLs, and strengthen communities.

As the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) goes to the polls today, we wish everyone a peaceful, safe, and meaningful election.

Elections are an important part of building communities where people can participate, be heard, and help shape the future. We also believe that this participation should include girls and young women, whose voices and ideas have an important place in peacebuilding and community development.

Creating spaces for girls to participate in peacebuilding is part of building a more inclusive and peaceful future. Through the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Girls for Peace Hackathon, SPARK! Philippines, in partnership with the Embassy of Slovenia in Manila / Veleposlaništvo Slovenije v Manili, is bringing together girls to share their perspectives, develop youth-led solutions, and explore how they can contribute to peace in their communities.

May today’s election be a step toward a more peaceful, inclusive, and participatory Bangsamoro. 🕊️

Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) are about to become PhilHealth YAKAP members!

We joined Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Acting President and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho and Mayor Joy Belmonte on a visit to the Quezon City Jail Female Dormitory to see firsthand how the city cares for its PDLs.

Under the Quezon City Government's No Woman Left Behind Program, women PDLs receive free healthcare and laboratory services, along with livelihood programs that strengthen their skills, confidence, and dignity.

We are proud to support this partnership, which will enroll PDLs in PhilHealth's YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan) Program, giving them access to a wider range of medical services — including free cancer screening and medications.

Health is a right, not a privilege reserved for those outside prison walls. By extending PhilHealth coverage to PDLs, we are affirming that every Filipino, regardless of circumstance, deserves the chance to heal, to be cared for, and to reclaim their dignity. This is what real inclusion looks like — no one left behind.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Girls for Peace Hackathon is an initiative of SPARK! Philippines and the Embassy of Slovenia in Manila that aims to strengthen the participation of girls and young women in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and development efforts in BARMM.

The Singapore Embassy in Manila and Temasek Foundation hosted a dinner honoring His Eminence Orlando Beltran Cardinal Quevedo, O.M.I., D.D., Archbishop Emeritus of Cotabato, recipient of the inaugural Harmony in Diversity Award. Presented by Temasek Foundation in collaboration with the 5P Global Movement, the award recognized his decades of leadership in peacebuilding, interfaith dialogue, and social cohesion across the Philippines.

Over 60 public service leaders attended, including our Executive Director, Maica Teves. The evening's highlight was Cardinal Quevedo's keynote address and fireside chat, where he reflected on what lasting peace truly requires: "Peace is not simply made by a handshake or by an embrace. A just and lasting peace is the fruit of love, love in the heart. Peace comes from the heart." It was a fitting close to an evening that reaffirmed how urgent and necessary the work of interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding remains.

The event resonated deeply with us at SPARK! Philippines as we prepare to launch a new project on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Cardinal Quevedo's reflections on dialogue and building understanding from the heart speak directly to our own commitment to creating spaces where women and girls can meaningfully shape peacebuilding and social cohesion.

Our thanks to Her Excellency Constance See, Ambassador of the Singapore Embassy in Manila, for including us in this meaningful event. Congratulations again to Cardinal Quevedo on this well-deserved honor!

Officials and women entrepreneurs from ASEAN member states and China gathered in Siem Reap for an exchange aimed at addressing shared challenges and strengthening women’s leadership within micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The opening ceremony, held under the theme “Addressing Challenges and Advancing Leadership in MSME Development,” was presided over by Yeap Samnang, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The event was also attended by Hort Pheng, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation; Dy Rado, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap; and Lu Qizhi, Director of the Consular Office in Siem Reap at the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

Speakers highlighted the growing strength of the ASEAN-China partnership, noting that two-way trade reached $1.3 trillion in 2025, while Chinese investment in ASEAN totaled $20 billion.

The exchange served as a valuable platform for women entrepreneurs, along with public and private sector stakeholders, to connect, share experiences, and transform ideas into concrete opportunities.

The Philippine delegation, which included our Executive Director, Maica Teves, engaged in the exchange of best practices, discussed common challenges, and forged meaningful cross-border partnerships—efforts that will help expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs and contribute to a more resilient and inclusive regional economy.

The exchange was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with support from the Government of China through the ASEAN-China Cooperation Fund.
