The Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) is a southern-based global network which builds and strengthens movements for sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and justice, and has been doing so for over 30 years. WGNRR recognises the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people. Focusing on access to contraceptives, access to safe and legal abortion and the full r

ealisation of one’s sexual rights; WGNRR advocates with and for the most vulnerable and marginalised communities. Our target groups include youth, the LGBTQI communities, people living with HIV/AIDS, to name a few. WGNRR is a member-focused organisation, and strives to achieve SRHR for all by connecting members and allies; organising campaigns; and sharing resources.

🌍✨ A new chapter of feminist leadership at WGNRR.

We are delighted to officially welcome Nawmi Naz Chowdhury as the new Executive Director of the Women's Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), following her steady leadership during WGNRR's transition period. 🎉

Naz is an international legal specialist working at the intersection of institutional accountability, gender justice, and international human rights law implementation within Global South contexts. Naz brings extensive experience in feminist movement building, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), advocacy, research, policy and legal reform and organizational leadership. Together with the Board of Trustees, she will continue advancing WGNRR's commitment to reproductive justice, strengthening global solidarity, and ensuring our advocacy remains rooted in the lived realities of women, girls, gender-diverse people, young people, and marginalized communities worldwide. 🌍🤝

We are also pleased to welcome Grace Isong Akpan to the WGNRR Board of Trustees. Grace is a feminist advocate and nonprofit leader with extensive experience advancing SRHR, HIV prevention, gender equality, economic justice, and movement building. Her leadership and expertise will further strengthen our governance and our collective efforts to advance reproductive justice across regions.

At the Abortion & Reproductive Justice Conference (ARJC) 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪, we brought back one of our favorite interactive activities from last year's Kaleidoscope Annual Gathering, the Wish Curtain 🧵✨

Each braid becomes part of something bigger, reminding us that lasting change is woven through collective action, solidarity, and shared dreams. 🌍🤝

WGNRR, through the Kaleidoscope Initiative 🌈, joined more than 900 reproductive justice advocates, activists, healthcare providers, academics, and human rights defenders from across the globe at the Abortion & Reproductive Justice Conference (ARJC) 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya 🇰🇪, organized by and .

Over four days, we connected with partners, exchanged experiences, shared strategies, and strengthened global solidarity in advancing reproductive justice. Together, we explored how collective action can move us closer to a future where abortion is safe, legal, stigma-free, and accessible to all. ✊💜

Swipe through highlights from June 15–18, featuring our interactive Kaleidoscope booth 🪧, inspiring sessions and discussions 🤝, and moments of solidarity that reminded us that stronger movements are built through collaboration, learning, and shared action across regions. 🌍✨

As we return to our respective communities, we carry forward new ideas, renewed partnerships, and a shared commitment to building reproductive justice-centered health systems that uphold bodily autonomy, reproductive freedom, and equitable access to healthcare for everyone. 🩺💜

Strengthening health systems is not only about policies, programs, and services. It is also about sustaining the people who make this work possible. ✨🫶

On May 30, in continued observance of International Day of Action for Women’s Health and Menstrual Health Day 🩸✊, the Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), in partnership with the Philippine Safe Abortion Advocacy Network (PINSAN) and with support from Fòs Feminista and the French Development Agency through the Sang Pour Sang Project, convened “Hingang Malalim (A Deep Breath): A Solidarity Care Space for Sexual and Reproductive Health Advocates” 🍃.

Through an intergenerational gathering featuring mindful journaling 📓, art-based activities 🎨, reflection, and community care, participants were invited to pause and reconnect with themselves and one another. The space opened reflection on what we carry, what sustains us, and how we can continue building movements that are resilient, compassionate, and rooted in collective care especially in times of polycrisis.

As we continue to advocate for health rights, menstrual dignity, and sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice (SRHRJ), may we also remember that collective care is essential, not optional .💜✨

Periods do not stop during crises. 🌍🩸

On May 28, Menstrual Health Day and the International Day of Action for Women's Health, CNS (Citizen News Service) and WGNRR convened a SHE & Rights session featuring the panel discussion "Navigating the Bleeding Edge: Period Poverty and Reproductive Health in the Polycrisis."

Advocates from the Philippines, India, Nepal, Indonesia, and Uganda came together to examine how inflation, climate disasters, conflict, displacement, and systemic poverty are making it harder for menstruators to access menstrual products, clean water, healthcare, information, and safe spaces.

Representing the Philippines, Joie Cortina, WGNRR Programme Officer for the Sang Pour Sang Project, highlighted how crises disproportionately affect menstruators from resource-poor communities, forcing many to choose between basic necessities and menstrual needs. These realities remind us that menstrual health and dignity cannot be treated as an afterthought in humanitarian response, disaster preparedness, and public health systems.

This video builds on insights she shared during an Instagram Live discussion hosted by Mahwari Justice and Baithak on May 25, titled "Periods Don't Pause in Crisis," held in observance of Menstrual Health Day and the International Day of Action for Women's Health.

The conversation explored how climate disasters, displacement, conflict, and economic hardship affect menstruators differently, and why responses must be grounded in the diverse lived realities of communities. It also highlighted the need to ensure access to menstrual products, WASH facilities, health services, and other essential support so that all menstruators can manage their periods with dignity, even in times of crisis.

In celebration of International Day of Action for Women’s Health 🌍✊, the WGNRR and the Center for Reproductive Rights (CRR) Asia Division convened a forum titled “Comprehensive Sexuality Education: Essential, Not Optional” on May 19 in Quezon City, Philippines.

The forum is convened in contribution to national efforts to protect Filipino adolescents’ human rights to sexual and reproductive health. It situated the Philippine CSE struggle within a global call to strengthen, not weaken, health systems and sexuality education in times of polycrisis, affirming that SRHR is essential, not optional, and that adolescents’ right to accurate, inclusive, and rights-based information is non-negotiable.

During the forum, CRR also launched a policy brief on Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), featuring key recommendations developed through several multi-stakeholder consultations in the Philippines, grounded in the RPRH Law and international human rights standards. 📄 Partners also reflected on how the rollback of CSE is shaped by broader polycrisis conditions, reinforcing the urgency of protecting and advancing CSE as part of equitable and resilient health systems 💜.

Advancing Menstrual Health and Dignity in the Philippines through Community-Based Learning Session🌸

On May 18, the Caloocan Young Leaders Initiative (CYLI), one of the Sang Pour Sang (SPS) partner in the Philippines, conducted an activity under , an advocacy campaign promoting menstrual health and dignity in learning spaces. As part of the activity, Joie Cortina, SPS Programme Officer, facilitated a conversation on Menstrual Health and Dignity with around 30 WinS (WASH in Schools) coordinators from public and private schools across South Caloocan.

Teachers and school nurses shared the realities they face in supporting menstruators in schools, as well as creative responses already in place, including collecting old skirts for emergency use, providing period products to students in need, and appointing student menstrual health advocates.

The conversation reinforced the call for stronger, more inclusive menstrual health policies and the urgent need to end period stigma in schools to achieve . 🌍💜
