The project entitled “Catalyzing New Mobility in Cities: the Case of Metro Manila” focuses the use of New Mobility (NewMo) as a lens in search of more sustainable and innovative solutions in the urban public transport system in Metro Manila. The Project aims to utilize and complement existing studies to initiate a metro-wide conversation among stakeholders to introduce the New Mobility concept, an

d find out how they envision the future of Metro Manila’s public transport system. Through research, the Project will explore how the current public transport system affects the poor and vulnerable populations of Metro Manila, and also seek to identify new or emerging entrepreneurial or livelihood opportunities responsive to their mobility needs. The goal is to formulate a holistic and innovative approach in tackling mobility issues in Metro Manila. With the support of The Rockefeller Foundation, the Project’s long-term vision is to become a new platform, resource centre and enabler of innovation for inclusive development in the region in the area of mobility. This effort complements ASoG-iBoP Asia’s thrust to enable and promote inclusive innovation in policy, learning and capacity building and enterprise development.
