𝟎𝟔 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Alhamdulillah! The UP Muslim Students’ Association successfully held its Halal Potluck 2026, titled “𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒂-𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒂: 𝑨 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔,” at Sterten Place Condominium, Maginhawa Street.

Muslim students from UP Diliman and neighboring campuses gathered for an engaging afternoon of icebreakers, meaningful conversations, and a vibrant spread of shared food and drinks. As UP MSA’s opening event for AY 2026–2027, the potluck brought together students, alumni, and first-time attendees to celebrate what unites us all: ✨𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉✨.

Beyond sharing food and fellowship, the gathering also served as an opportunity to learn more about UP MSA’s organizational structure, committee roles, advocacies, and ongoing initiatives for the academic year. Attendees were able to explore the different ways they can participate in the Association’s running campaigns while providing a safe space for the sharing of their own ideas and experiences. It was also a wonderful opportunity to welcome new faces and invite those interested to become a part of UP MSA’s growing family.

Born from the rising movement of consciousness sparked by Muslim students within and beyond the University in the 1960s, and formally established in 1983, Shahid emerged as part of the association’s continuous critical tradition of Muslim scholarship and student activism that has sought to carve unflinching spaces of dissent and collective action. As it evokes the act of witnessing, Shahid speaks to the one who doesn't turn a blind eye amidst impunity, and whose testimony is devoted to the relentless pursuit of justice.

From the militant streets that witnessed the First Quarter Storm to the arenas where generations of Muslim scholar-activists have fought for and demanded freedom, liberation, and the Bangsamoro struggle for self-determination, the official publication of the UP Muslim Students’ Association writes once more against the war of narratives fueled by distortion and the persistent struggle to reclaim narratives and the roots of resistance.

Muling magbubukas ang mga pahinang nagsusulong ng kasarinlan tungo sa mga espasyong patuloy sa pagtataguyod at paniningil ng katarungan; at maghahayag ng mga salaysay na patuloy na tumutuklas at naghahabi ng katotohanan.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.

The UP Diliman Muslim Students’ Association humbly appeals to the generosity and compassion of our community in support of the parent of one of our beloved members.

At present, her father has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as he continues to undergo treatment for Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer and faces serious complications, including the risk of kidney failure. In light of these difficult circumstances, UP MSA is respectfully calling for donations to help support his medical expenses and assist his family during this challenging time. Any amount would be deeply appreciated and would greatly contribute to easing their financial burden.

Contact details are provided accordingly. We also humbly request everyone to keep his family in your du’as in praying for his recovery as they navigate this difficult period.

May Allah grant him shifā’ and grant patience to their family, and may He also abundantly reward everyone for extending their assistance and empathy.
