The need to protect children online is becoming more challenging as the digital world moves forward at a fast pace. But addressing this situation should be anchored on the full realization of children's rights. The right to protection should not be upheld at the expense of the other rights, not only because children should be able to enjoy each right, but also because the rights are interconnected and support each other. The digital world has provided opportunities for children to enjoy their right to development and participation, but at the same time created very significant threats.

The internet and the platforms within are all attributable to specific entities. In the spirit of the best interest of the child, to make substantial strides in protecting children online, problems arising from their online presence and activities should be addresed by the roots by looking into the platforms and addressing problems that are innate to and created by these very platforms.
