We are looking forward to seeing you at the 1️⃣2️⃣th year of MLAC Institute’s annual Parenting Academy entitled: “LET’S PROTECT OUR CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH! How to Prevent Violence in our Families, Schools, and Communities” on September 5, 2026 (Saturday).

Acts of violence continue to threaten the safety and well-being of our children and families. We believe that it is more important than ever to PREVENT these from happening. We can nurture environments that recognize and affirm the innate truth-telling and wisdom of children.

Across Asia and the Pacific, many children without parental care continue to be placed in institutional settings rather than supported through family- and community-based care. This session will introduce the Global Charter on Children’s Care Reform and explore national and regional approaches to strengthening family-based care for children without parental care. This session is co-hosted by the National Authority of Child Care in the Philippines, which will share the country’s experience and approaches to strengthening family-based care and advancing alternative care reform.

What does it take to sustain enabling environments for the realization of children’s rights? 🌏

Across Asia and the Pacific, children face increasingly complex and interconnected challenges—from violence and exploitation to climate change, humanitarian crises, changing family dynamics, and emerging digital risks. These realities underscore the need for child rights advocacy efforts to adapt to emerging trends and for child rights organizations to strengthen collaboration with governments, civil society, and children at the national, regional, and international levels.

At the 2026 Asia-Pacific Partnership Meeting of Child Rights Coalitions and Networks (APPM), civil society, governments, partners, and children and young people will come together to share experiences, learn from one another, and strengthen collective action.

This year, we’ll explore:
