Bagsak pa din sa 2026!

President Marcos, Jr. has consistently received a “failed” mark from Amnesty International Philippines.

In 2025-26, he failed to perform in three critical issues: protecting HRDs, press freedom, and advancing climate justice. The year before that he regressed in preventing a number of HR violations to worsen such as as access to health care, labor security, and cracking down on corruption. These are recurring failures, and he only has 2 more years in office.

His government must decide now whether it will continue to protect power and privilege or finally uphold the rights of every Filipino.

Amnesty International Philippines calls on the 20th Congress to reject renewed attempts to lower the minimum age of criminal responsibility and instead invest in evidence-based measures that protect children and communities.

The pursuit of justice for the victims of the Tacloban school shooting must never come at the expense of children’s rights. In moments of grief and public outrage, the government must resist punitive responses that have repeatedly proven ineffective and instead uphold its mandate to protect every child while ensuring accountability by upholding human rights standards.

2025 was the deadliest year on record for journalists worldwide with 129 killed, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists: Israel was responsible for two-thirds of the killings; the Gaza Strip was the deadliest place to report from.

From deadly conflict to media blackouts, when journalists are targeted, access to reliable information becomes another casualty.

Governments won’t hold themselves to account. People will.

May 3 is World Press Freedom Day.

For the survivors and victims’ families who have carried their grief in silence, today affirms that their voices have been heard and their persistence is not in vain. As these proceedings move forward, the international community will bear witness not only to the crimes that Duterte is alleged to have committed, but to the courage of those who never stopped demanding justice.
