Corporate Social Responsibility Put Into Action by Telus International
The philosophy of Corporate Social Responsibility is very much entrenched in the corporate culture and core values of TELUS International, a leading global telecommunications company headquartered in Canada.

alues,” according to Jeffrey Puritt, President. It also enables the employees “to give where they live.”
GK provides several opportunities for TELUS International Philippines to channel not only funds but also the energy and enthusiasm of its employees into projects that are sustainable and have long-term results by engaging them in the movement to reduce poverty in the country. Through the years, TELUS International has significantly contributed to GK’s cause, building a total of 51 homes and a three-storey multi-purpose hall in its first village. TIP volunteers visit the community every weekend to work with the residents. TELUS has committed to build a second village, hoping to replicate the success it has had, and provide hope to more families in need. In December 2010 it held a Volunteerism Day at their TELUS-Gawad Kalinga 2 Village in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. The highlight of this event was the official turnover of 10 new homes to eligible and deserving families. This act was significant since it symbolized the company’s commitment to build a second village. The first TELUS-GK Village in Pook Masagana has been completed with 70 homes and a multipurpose hall. Because it was the holiday season, TELUS International also hosted the first ever TELUS GK Village Christmas party for residents of the community. The children in the village enjoyed fun activities like facepainting and games. Two months earlier, the company held its TELUS Day of Service in the Philippines at Batasan Hills and Pook Masagana, both in Quezon City with more than a thousand employees participating. Aside from the usual build that involves cement mixing, shoveling piles of rubble and passing around sacks filled with construction material and painting, there was also a medical mission. Workshops on healthy eating and livelihood development were also held.
