Two tiny brothers, Kala and Yaan, were rescued on Araw ng Kalayaan back in 2022. Their little bodies were shaking as they huddled close, finding warmth and comfort in each other amidst the harsh streets.

Rescued on a day that symbolizes freedom, these kittens were given a second chance to break free from hardship and find love. With their affectionate hearts and irresistible charm, Kala and Yaan quickly became volunteer favorites. Yaan, especially, had a way of melting hearts with his sweet, happy eyes and endless need for cuddles.

Now, we’re overjoyed to share that Yaan has finally found a forever cuddle buddy! Thank you, Elaine, for choosing to be his furever family and giving him the love and warmth he deserves. Seeing him so happy with you and his new doggie fursibling fills our hearts with joy!

Now, we turn our hopes to Kala, who is still waiting to find freedom in his own furever home. A happy ending like his brother’s is still out there for him—he’s just waiting for the right person to make it happen.

PS: We understand the concerns about Yaan being adopted without Kala, and we want to assure everyone that PAWS carefully considers each adoption to ensure the best outcome for our rescues. PAWS’ adoption process is thorough and robust to ensure that every rescue is matched with the right adopter, prioritizing their well-being and long-term happiness.

While they are siblings, Kala and Yaan were not a bonded pair and having them adopted out individually will not cause either of them distress. Our expert adoption counselors know each and every one of our rescues like their own kids and wouldn’t risk their well-being; Yaan would not have been adopted out alone if it would have been harmful to either of them. Both brothers grew up with many other cat and human friends and can very much thrive independently in their own loving homes.

Every rescue deserves the chance to find their own family, and we’re hopeful that Kala’s turn will come soon. WHAT TO DO IF YOU WITNESS ANIMAL CRUELTY

Just last year, in front of horrified diners and restaurant staff in Manila, Jung Seongho brutally stabbed an Aspin. The people who witnessed this act of cruelty refused to stay silent.

They took immediate action, and because of their swift and determined response, Jung Seongho was found guilty and convicted of animal cruelty after legal proceedings.

What these ordinary citizens did that day made all the difference. Every one of us has the power to protect animals from cruelty, and by knowing the right steps to take, we can ensure that innocent animals like Erika get the justice they deserve.

By staying informed, taking proper and proactive action, and encouraging others to do the same, we can create a future where no animal suffers at the hands of abusers.

CASE FILED. JUSTICE FOR OREO.

One night, Vilma came home to a nightmare—their beloved family dog, Oreo, lay bloodied by their doorstep, fighting for his life. She tried desperately to save him and gave him immediate first aid, but his pain was too much. Oreo took his last breath in her arms.

Grief-stricken, she searched for answers. What could have happened? Who could have done this to their Oreo? Then, her brave neighbor came forward with the heartbreaking truth: he witnessed Giles Rapista—their other neighbor’s boyfriend—stab Oreo after the dog had merely barked at him and his friends and taken something from the waste. When confronted by Vilma and the authorities, Giles admitted to the horrific act, saying, “Inunahan ko lang [si Oreo].”

Oreo’s family refused to let his cruel and senseless death be for naught. With PAWS’ support, they bravely decided to stand for their Oreo and take the fight to court.

PAWS representative Sharon Yap flew to Iloilo last Monday to file the case with Vilma and with the assistance of local lawyer Atty. Jinky Jalandoni-Cope. Their courageous neighbor also chose to stand up as a witness in the case, also determined to seek justice for Oreo.

Rest in peace, sweet Oreo. Your beloved family and PAWS are fighting for the justice you deserve.

NO ASPIN DESERVES TO ENDURE SUCH HORRIFIC PAIN AND CRUELTY. JUSTICE FOR TIGER.

PAWS is deeply outraged by the brutal stabbing of Tiger, an Aspin, in a market in Subic. Tiger passed away shortly after the attack, unable to recover from his incredibly severe wounds. PAWS strongly condemns this horrific act of animal cruelty, and we are appalled that anyone could subject an innocent animal to such senseless violence.

PAWS has taken immediate action: we have reached out to the original poster and are coordinating with local animal welfare organization The Homeless Dog Shelter - Subic, Philippines. They’ve personally informed us that their local authorities are taking action and the perpetrator is now in custody at the Barangay.

PAWS will continue to work closely with them to ensure urgent and effective legal action is taken against the individual responsible for this atrocity. We will not tolerate such cruelty and will pursue all legal avenues to ensure the perpetrator faces full accountability.

Rest in peace, Tiger. We’re all working together and fighting to get you the justice you deserve.

We always meet the most unfurgettable clients!

Perdita, named after the dog from 101 Dalmatians, was rescued from a church parking lot and brought by her kind rescuer to PAWS for kapon last February.

Now, we’re happy to hear that this unique girl has finally found a furever home—where she now lovingly goes by the name Cleopatra! Congratulations, Cleopatra! 🐾

When Tortilla and his family were rescued — limping and emaciated near a Mexican restaurant in Marikina — he never imagined that one day, he’d be a model cat for Puspin love, posing alongside celebrity fur mom, Jodi Sta. Maria. But here he is, showing everyone what love and care can do.

PAWS’ Puso Para Sa Puspin campaign shines the spotlight on our native cats — most of whom suffer silently from neglect on the harsh, busy streets of our country. Many Puspins, like Tortilla, are in need of care and loving homes. They deserve to be cherished. In fact, there are nearly 200 rescued Puspins waiting to be adopted at the PAWS shelter today.

Jodi Sta. Maria, our newest celebrity spokesperson and the face of the Puso Para Sa Puspin campaign, knows firsthand the hardships our Puspins face. She’s rescued and given loving homes to many of them herself. At yesterday’s press conference, she shared that she has nine Puspins — all rescued, all adored, and all living their best lives with her.

“Sa kahit na anong bagay po, basta minahal mo at inalagaan mo, gumaganda,” Jodi warmly shared.

Jodi hopes more people will open their hearts and homes to a Puspin in need. After all, Puspins — or Pusang Pinoys — embody the best traits of Filipinos: they’re loving, intelligent, loyal, and ready to prove they can be the best kitties in the world, if only given the chance.

PUSO PARA SA PUSPIN: A Heartfelt Launch for Our Feline Friends! 🐈✨

International Love Your Cat Day became even more special as PAWS officially launched its newest campaign, PUSO PARA SA PUSPIN, at Ayala Malls Vertis North.

We were honored to have Jodi Sta. Maria, PAWS’ newest cat ambassador and the face of Puso Para sa Puspin, lead the launch. A longtime advocate for animal welfare and a devoted furmom to rescues of her own, Jodi’s genuine love and compassion for animals shone brightly, making her the perfect purr-son to lead this meaningful movement.

The event showcased touching video screenings of Jodi’s journey with animals, followed by Jodi’s unveiling of the campaign materials herself. A press conference followed, where Jodi and PAWS Executive Director Atty. Anna Cabrera answered questions from the audience and shared their vision and mission to create a kinder future for cats with this campaign.

Puso Para sa Puspin aims to create a world where every cat is valued, cared for, and protected. The campaign highlights the importance of rescue and adoption, promotes spaying and neutering, and pushes for more widespread Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) programs.

Two years ago, Jodi and Naia’s paths crossed at the NAIA airport. On the cold concrete floor, as the cold rain poured, poor little Naia kept meowing, crying out for help.

Amid the rush, Jodi saw Naia getting hurt as passengers carelessly hit him with their airport carts. She stepped in, shielding Naia from being hit once again, apologizing to the man whose cart she halted as she explained she was just protecting a little kitten.

“Wag nyo kasing iwan kung saan-saan alaga nyo,” (“Then don’t just leave your pet in people’s way,”) the man snapped at Jodi. But Naia wasn’t her pet—not yet. As she scooped baby Naia into her arms, Jodi stood firm and made a quiet promise: “Hindi ko siya alaga… magiging alaga pa lang.” (“He’s not my pet… but he’s about to be!”)

From that moment on, Naia found the most amazing home with Jodi’s love and care, and he’s been living the purr-fect life filled with the utmost comfort and warmth ever since.

Our adorable, adoptable rescued pups had a barking good time alongside our incredible team and volunteers today. It warmed our hearts to see so many furparents and their furbabies come together—not just for a fun run, but for a pawsome cause!

Chance is chasing his second chance! 🐾

Abandoned at the illegal POGO Mansion, Chance was found chained beneath a generator, left with no chance or way out — scared, untrusting, and alone.

But today, you’d never guess this fluffy boy was once so traumatized he bared his teeth in fear. With PAWS’ Shelter Manager Pablo by his side, he completed his first ever fun run at , showing everyone how he’s bloomed into one of the brightest, liveliest pups at PAWS!

Now, Chance is chasing his second chance—at a better, more loving home where he’ll never be left behind again.

Jas is jogging to get to a loving home! 🏃🏻

When the PAWS team came to rescue Jas, it turned into a real (and ironic) game of cat and mouse. Terrified and full of worry, Jas kept running away, and it took hours of patience and kindness before he finally allowed them to bring him to safety.

Now, this once-frightened pup is learning to open his heart—no longer running away in fear, he’s slowly allowing himself to get closer to other people.

Today, he even joined his first ever Doggie Run with PAWS volunteer Tony by his side! showed us just how far Jas has come, and how he’s taking his time, keeping his pace as he jogs his way toward his very own loving home.

Wh**ey survived unimaginable cruelty back in 2018—a botched DIY kapon attempt where someone tightly tied a rubber band around his testicles left him so traumatized and in excruciating pain.

But Wh**ey’s spirit is unstoppable, and has shown us once again that his heart is as big as his stride. Wh**ey has long been ready to make his way into his next big adventure: finding a forever home. 🙏🏻
