"Water is the driver of nature." - Leonardo da Vinci
Eco-Warriors! This National Womenโs Month, let us all celebrate World Water Day 2026, with the theme of โWater & Gender: Where Water Flows, Equality Growsโ! ๐๐ซ
The world has indeed entered a state of global water bankruptcy - deeply affecting each of us. As much as the crisis affects everyone, it does not happen equally ๐ฅ In places where there is a lack of safe drinking water and sanitation near their homes, inequalities flourish, and those who bear the brunt of the burden are women and girls. They are the ones who often collect and manage water, care for the sick, but are also the ones often left out of decision-making, leadership, and representation in systems that concern water. ๐จ
Water crisis is a womanโs crisis. ๐ง
There is an urgent need for a transformative, rights-based approach to solving such challenges. Womenโs voices should be heard, and their agency recognized. ๐ฃ As such, for this yearโs World Water Day, each individual must learn about the critical relationship between water, women, and gender equality. ๐ฐ If women and girls have their voices heard, equally, in water decisions, services would become more inclusive, sustainable and effective. ๐๐
