βEMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN!β βπΈ
This March, we celebrate Womenβs Month β a time to honor the strength, resilience, and invaluable contributions of women in our communities and beyond. π
Despite the progression of feminism in todayβs generation, misogyny remains a prevalent issue in numerous societies β including the Philippine political landscape. π΅π
While the Rotaract Club of Balintawak acknowledges Rotary International as a non-political organization, we strongly condemn the recent issue of a certain politician who openly disclosed his fantasizing about a certain female celebrity. Statements like these reduce women to objects of desire rather than recognizing them as individuals worthy of dignity and respect. π«
As Ms. Amy Perez shared on the digital platform X:
βHindi ito usapin kung [political ideology] ka β ang point ay may BABAE na nabastos sa isip at salita! Tanong lang, ikaw gusto mo ba yung Nanay mo, Tita mo, pinsan mo na babae ay pag isipan ng ganun? Wag nating piliting maging tama ang isang mali.β
βItβs not about political ideologies β the point is that a WOMAN was objectified mentally and verbally. Would you want your mother, aunt, or female cousin to be thought of that way? Letβs not force a wrong to be right.β
Women deserve respect β not only in action, but in thought and in speech. π¬β¨ Misogyny, whether disguised as humor or expressed as fantasy, has no place in a society that claims to value dignity and equality.
With this, we stand in solidarity with women everywhere. π€π Let us continue uplifting one another, calling out disrespect, and creating safe spaces where women are empowered, protected, and heard.
Because babae ka β hindi babae lang. πΊ
Padayon sa laban para sa tunay na pagkakapantay-pantay. βοΈ
