Last March 21, 2026, the Interact District Conference was held to recognize the dedication and hard work of every Interact Club. It served as a meaningful occasion to honor the efforts of young leaders who continuously give their time and energy to serve their communities. We are also sincerely grateful for our Interact Club advisers, whose guidance, patience, and unwavering support continuously shaped us into better leaders and individuals. Your belief in our potential pushed us to grow, to lead with purpose, and to remain grounded in service despite challenges.

When you’re not in charge of a team or organization, your main job is to build a strong foundation for who you are and what you can do. You spend time figuring out your strengths – like being good at solving problems or talking to people – and working on your weaknesses, so you can handle harder work down the line. You learn how to manage your time, stay calm under pressure, and take responsibility for your choices. Every win you get and every mistake you fix helps you become a more capable person. This part of your journey isn’t selfish – it’s necessary. You can’t lead others well if you don’t know how to lead yourself first.

Once you step into a leadership role, everything changes. The way you measure success shifts completely. Now, it’s not just about how well you do – it’s about how well your whole team does.

As a leader, your job is to help every person on your team or organization do their best work and become the best version of themselves. That means taking the time to understand what each team member is good at and what they want to achieve. You teach them new skills, give them chances to try new things, and support them when they face problems. When someone makes a mistake, you don’t blame them – you use it as a chance to help them learn. You celebrate their wins like they’re your own, because when they grow, your team grows, and your whole organization gets stronger.

For example, if you’re leading a small group at work, growing others might mean training a new member until they feel confident on their own. It could mean giving a quiet team member a chance to speak up in meetings, so they can share their ideas and build their confidence. Today is a very special day as we celebrate two wonderful milestones in your life – your birthday and your well-deserved retirement for being the School Teacher and School Principal!
