Look: UPAE welcomes UP Engineering graduates into alumni community
The UP Alumni Engineers (UPAE), led by President Engr. Victor Emmanuel “Vic” B. Ahorro, formally welcomed graduates of the UP Diliman College of Engineering into the UP Engineering alumni community during the College’s 2026 Undergraduate and Graduate Recognition Rites at the University Theater.
He led the graduates in taking their oath as members of UPAE during the morning and while Vince President Engr. Arnel Molina will induct the afternoon ceremonies.
The Class of 2026 comprised 13 Doctor of Philosophy graduates, 157 master’s degree graduates, and 744 bachelor’s degree graduates from 12 undergraduate and 29 graduate programs.
Before administering the oath, he introduced UPAE as the alumni organization of UP Engineering and invited the graduates to remain connected with the College and their fellow alumni.
“Today, we welcome you not only as graduates, but as future members of the UP Alumni Engineers, or UPAE—the alumni organization of UP Engineering, established in 1947,” Ahorro said.
Ahorro noted that UPAE is celebrating its 79th year in 2026, as it approaches its 80th anniversary, while the UP Diliman College of Engineering marks its 116th year.
“You are joining a long line of UP engineers who continue to support one another, the College, and the next generation of engineers,” he told the graduates.
“Through UPAE, you can jumpstart your career, meet fellow alumni, find mentors, build professional connections, and become part of the widest network of UP Alumni Engineers across batches, fields, companies, and industries,” he said.
He highlighted UPAE’s continuing support for UP Engineering students through programs such as the Study Now, Pay Later Program, which provides financial assistance to qualified students of the College.
“This is why UPAE matters. It supports students while they are still in the College and continues to support them as alumni and professionals,” he said.
The UPAE President also encouraged the graduates to become lifetime members of the organization.
Lifetime membership provides access to benefits such as fuel discount cards, discounted rates for selected UPAE events, discounts on the limited-edition UPAE Oblation statuette, and the opportunity for members’ names to be included on the UPAE bronze marker for lifetime members at Melchor Hall.
He also introduced the graduates to UPAE’s alumni activities, including the UP Fight Run, held on June 28, sports events such as the UPAE Golf Tournament, alumni fellowships, and the annual Engineering Alumni Homecoming held every November.
He likewise invited the new alumni to visit the renovated UPAE Office, which serves as a venue for fellowship, meetings, co-working, and reconnecting with the UP Engineering community.
As the graduates prepared to take their oath, Ahorro urged them to see UPAE not merely as another organization seeking members, but as a community that would accompany them beyond graduation.
“I hope you see UPAE not as another organization asking you to join, but as a community that can help you grow—professionally, personally, and as UP engineers," he said.
Ahorro then led the graduates in reciting the UPAE oath, formally welcoming them into the alumni community.
“Congratulations again, and welcome to the UP Alumni Engineers,” he concluded.
